Thank you KG for being a Net!

It's a shame the team wasn't able to make any serious noise while you were here but you gave the fans a player to root for and a person to follow.

My favorite moment over the last two seasons:

Come on man. He has nothing to do with King and his ineptitude. KG busted his ass here despite uprooting his family which he hates to do. I'm grateful for his mentoring with Mase, Teletovic, etc. He definitely represented our franchise and city the right way.

God that hurts.... more n more....

I rather not moved KG TBH, he was a lot of class and intensity out there.... we don't have anyone like that and now, no one to lead the lockerroom... oh man this is going to defeat us....

but thanks King!

Plus it was hard to root for him ... I just could never think of him as a Net.

He had nothing to do with this and throughout his tenure as a net he acted like a true professional. I appreciateKG

I remember Nets fans coming to the C's board laughing their asses off when the trade went down. There were quite a few. Being honest. Good day to you all.

Really? Can you be specific and quote some?

You shouldn't really be derailing an appreciation thread though.

Derailing started on literally the first reply.

I don't know how KG went from 30mpg in Boston + 38mpg in the playoffs in 2012-13 to not being able to play 24 minutes in 2013-14. He let Kidd take the fall for his minutes but it's pretty clear that his body can't handle anymore. Sucks because the guy is actually really useful when he's on the floor. Maybe that period where he considered retirement and didn't workout in the summer really took a toll on him.

Definitely appreciated him when he was on the floor. Intensity, rebounding, defense, unselfishness. It's a shame we gave up so much for him and couldn't throw him out there with guys as competitive as him.

You can't handle the cold hard truth *shrugs*. It's hard to be appreciative in the aftermath of this mess.

I'm glad he helped Mason, but otherwise meh. His time here has been forgettable.

Much Respect to KG! Thank you for the intensity, the passion, the energy you brought to the game, your leadership, your mentoring of Mason. I can't fault you for your body breaking down, happens to the best of them, but never could question your energy or your effort. Bondy tweeted yesterday this morning how KG was at practice yesterday sweating profusely as he always does. That's KG for you.

That is also my favorite moment that GIF nyce! I said this in Joe thread, I'm not going to get mad at Joe for the swap with Atlanta this year, I'm not mad at Paul or KG for giving 3 picks to get them. The fall guy for those is the man who decided those trades were worth it, Billy King.

KG wanted Brooklyn. He had a NTC, he waived it to come here. Paul wanted to come here, he convinced KG. I have nothing, but respect for both of them. That hard foul Paul set on Lebron in preseason really dictated what he and KG are about, hardwork, passion, old school basketball where nothing comes easy. I wish the core we are left had that passion for the game, but unfortunately they do not. I wish King wasn't our GM, he is. It's not easy being a Nets fan, but definitely admire the games of both of them. I HATED Paul before he came here, the theatrics of him getting carried off the floor, the worst comeback in playoff history that he engineered with Antoine Walker - that was the worst loss i ever sat through. I hated to see Paul leave this summer, and I will miss KG.

This is going to be a terrible period in the Nets franchise's history coming up until new ownership is in place. Hopefully, that will come soon. A new chapter needs to be written.

SMH at people **** on KG in an appreciation thread, when he had nothing to do with the semantics of the trade or Billy King's ineptitude. Even though he wasn't able to contribute much on the floor as a Net, I always appreciated his professionalism, dedication, determination, intensity, and passion as a Net. That KG gif posted in the OP is indeed one of my favorite moments in the past few years as a Net fan, even though it ultimately doesn't mean much. I had said it before that I felt sorry for KG this season, for being on this sorry ass team; he deserved to end his career in a better way.

While the Wolves are a lotto team, the sentimentality factor is still strong, and I'm glad that KG gets to return home to a franchise that he genuinely loves and cares for. It's the right ending to his career, and like he did here with Mase, he'll be able to tutor the Wolves' young talent, before eventually moving into an ownership/FO role there. I'm happy for Wolves fans as well who will get to see their legend back again in the Wolves uniform. Best of luck to KG, and I thank him for waiving his NTC to come play here in Brooklyn, even if it didn't work out the way it was planned to.

Oh please. You act like KG came in here tearing **** up because you're trying to be a nostalgic **** because he's now gone, BUT where was this nostalgia last year when the guy was bricking midrange jumpers left and right?

He did some good things, but I'm being realistic. He was not worth trading for. His nets tenure was subpar compared to what he gave to the Wolves and Celtics.

He damn sure won't go into the hall of fame as Net, that's for damn sure. I doubt Jason Kidd and Vince Carter will as well.

Wish him nothing but the best. It annoyed me that he couldn't play 30 minutes in a game the team desperately needed to win, though. And the trade didn't work out for us, but it was one that had to be made since King's prior moves had basically pushed us up against a corner. It's one of the very few trades I can't criticize since I was pushing for it to be made at the time. The Wallace/Johnson trades were objectionable then and they are even worse now.

I wasn't a KG fan before he came here but I respected him and still do.

He didn't have to come here, but he did.
He didn't have to accept a trade to Minny but he did.
He took Mason under his wing.
He seemed like a consummate professional who played with the most intensity by far

Was he worth trading for?
Probably not...unless you think Plumlee wouldn't be the player he was today or we don't win that Toronto series without him..or you think Thad will be worth it.

Did he live up to expectations?
Nope...but I think our expectations were probably too high to begin with.

Either way he seemed to like it here, was proud to wear our uniform and didn't complain. I'm not that sad to see him go as I never got that attached, but I'm glad I got to see him wear our uniform for a short while.

Yes, I don't think it's the worst all things considering. I posted in the other thread the trade can really be viewed as a 1st for Pierce, a 1st for KG, a 1st for Wallace and the swaps were a classic King overpay, but not as bad as an overpay as other trades. But the trade represented the culmination of a number of problems with the Nets. Lacked cap space to add players so had to make trades as we used the space to trade for Joe. Gerald Wallace was a terrible contract. If he was an expiring contract we could've walked away with giving them just a 2014 1st and a 2016 first. If that was the case there would be a light at the end of the tunnel. We'd just lack picks for one more season, but things are so bleak because of that Wallace trade and extension and everything else he had done up to that point.

Pretty much.

I think the Wallace trade is the worst trade in NBA history. I honestly think that trade cost us a chance to trade for Harden or at the very least Howard. hell, we could have landed Anthny Davis pick if wallace hadn't altered our final record that season.
