Who do you think finishes higher in the standings and why?

I'd put this in the GB, but if a Nets fan does it we will get less votes.
If a Knick fan does, they will get less votes.
I'll ask a neutral poster to maybe put it out there, though 90% of the responses will start with "They both will suck, ..." and turn into a bash fest.

on paper i think the nets have a slight advantage,but thats on paper.
if melo and jose can stay healthy everything else will fall into place.
apparently deron was a black cloud hanging over this franchise and with him gone the teams cohesiveness/unity will improve.

The Knicks were absolutely awful before the tanking strategy was implemented. Unless, Porzingis or Grant surprise early on as a breakout rookie. I don't see how the Knicks are even near the playoff line. You're basically banking on Afflalo, Lopez being enough to double their win total.

i think our season hinges on melo and jose' health and just getting off to a good start.

afflalo taking the scoring heat off melo.

kyle oquinn is going to play huge minutes and have more of an impact then robin.

zingas is a freak....7'3 with a crazy wingspan. he's going to get an insane amount of blocks.

jose will start but jerian will play more minutes...by all star break jerian will have supplanted jose as the starter.

They also add what they hope is a healthy Melo. I wouldn't be surprised if they are better than us, but I would be disappointed.

They've had defensive faces and still missed the postseason. I'm not buying it. Afflalo is nowhere the level of good he used to be. His impact in Denver wasn't there last season and he wasn't good in Portland either. Lopez will help but doesn't greatly impact the W-L column.

Don't be a stranger during the season because when we **** on your garbage ass team I'll be sure to call you out.

If we're worse than the knicks i'll eat my basketball coach degree. (which i don't have)

Neither of these rosters are world beaters.

I can come up with reasons why the Nets will be better than the Knicks and vice versa.

We don't know what Melo will look like coming back from knee surgery.
Porzingis is pretty skilled but he's also a rookie. It's impossible to know how much he'll be able to give at the start and how much better he'll get throughout the season.

The Knicks bench is pretty weak.

The Nets have Lopez and JJ but will get an even better Lopez? Hollins talked about working with him and turning him into a post player who can effectively pass out of the double team. How soon will see that Lopez, if at all? What kind of JJ will we get? JJ wasn't that good last season. Will he come back rejuvenated or was the toll he took last season too great that he can't get back to what he once was.

Our PG situation is a huge question mark. On paper, it looks like the biggest weak spot. I don't have confidence that Larkin is a legit starter. He needs to work on his jumper. Yall already know how I feel about Jack.

RHJ is talented but like Porzingis he's still a rookie. Summer league doesn't hold a candle to the NBA regular season. His lack of a jumper will hurt us for a while. We'll have to see how long it takes him to develop that. Just don't be surprised if it takes a few seasons.

Our bench is pretty weak too.

I don't think either team should be celebrating. There's a lot of work to be done on both sides. There are too many variables for to decide who will have a better record.

nets may have an advantage with hollins cause of his experience as a coach over fisher and that the knicks didnt seem to be a triangle offense team last year nor did melo and fisher seemed lost coaching

I'm riding with Brooklyn we have a much better coach.

NY was lost last year trying to run a offense that doesn't work the moves they made will help some but they'll still suck.

Brooklyn was already a playoff team (barely) the biggest problem was they were slow at point guard and unathletic.
They got younger and quicker without the fat lazy cancer the team will play hard.

In the end, I pray the NETs will be better...

But I think the Knicks will be better than they were last year. Affalo and Lopez are going to have great contributions and if Melo shares the ball, I can see more positive nights than bad ones.

I think the knicks finish in the 44-46 win area. the nets finish in the 30-34 win area.

Carmello is the best player on either team should be pretty well rested. unlike the recent knick teams i like how they surrounded him. Calederon is a pass first player who can hit the 3. Lopez is solid defensively. Afflolo can shoot from the outside and is a 2 way player. the rest of that team is just a giant bunch of question marks. but a healthy rested carmelo with gaurds who can shoot and ok D at center should be good for 45+ wins.

The nets to me have the same issues as last year only with more youth(good long term but not right away). We really have next to nothing at gaurd (i dont see johnson playiny any SG and see him playing more PF then SG. i think he starts at SF). our gaurd rotation is basically backups and low pick rookies/second year guys. you could argue there isnt a starting gaurd on this roster. I like Joe and Brook to have solid years, and think thad will remain solid, but outside of that and some energy and D from rHJ i dont see many wins. We dont have the shooting, the offense creators, the depth or the 2 way players to win consistently imo. i see like 34 wins unless we add some legit starting talent at gaurd

When is melo suppose to be back? What was his injury again? Was it the shoulder? Or was it something new?

How many new players does Knicks have compared to how many new players do the Nets have?

Besides Melo, who is going to be their second option? Knicks won 54 games with JR Smith in a contract year being lights out. Who is going to be Melo's Robin (lol. We know Robin Lopez isnt going to be that guy.)

How quickly will the rookies develop? Is Knicks rookie going to contribute off the bat?

Only questions Nets have are

How will the offense run without DWill?
Who will step up shooing wise?
How will the defense improve with RHJ?

I think Knicks have a lot MORE question marks then the Nets.

44-46 wins

The last team to jump that much in wins were the Spurs when they got TIm Duncan. Guess I must have missed the impact Afflolo and Robin Lopez have brought into the NBA. Afflolo is on his 3rd team in 12 months and is completely dependent on others to create his offense for him so I dont see how or why you would call him a 2 way player. You also fail to mention the steep decline he showed last year. Calderon averaged 4.7 assists in 30.2 minutes a game, Jack did that in 2 less minutes a game and I never once considered him a pass first PG. Lopez is a solid BACKUP center and a complete non factor on offense.

Meanwhile the Nets are going to be worse despite winning 38 games last season when Thad is an upgrade over KG, Bargnani is an upgrade over Mirza, Bogs is coming in with experience and Lopez is final coming in off an off season he got to train. We do have a lot more youth on the team but outside of Bogs and RHJ, the core of the team are all NBA vets (Lopez/Thad/JJ/Bogs/Jack/Bargnani/RHJ/Larkin/Ellington). Anything we get from Bogs, RHJ, Reed, Q Miller and T Rob will be gravy and is more then the end of the bench gave us last year.

Also, who maintains the better health through the season.......

Well, Brooklyn has never had a season where they failed to clinch a playoff spot before the Knicks. I say they do it again!

It has nothing to do with the playoffs. There is no way possible the Knicks have a better record then the Nets.
