General Voting Rules:
Spoiler:
One of the reasons for doing this is to kill time during the dead of summer when there's nothing else to do and we're waiting for the next season. I will post a list of players and out of that list of players you vote for one. You also need to nominate a player not listed in the current voting pool but a player you'd like to see available to be voted for in the next round.

For instance, let's say it's the first round and the available candidates to vote for are LBJ, KD, Curry, Harden, and Westbrook. I decide to vote for LBJ this round but I believe CP3 is the next best player. Since CP3 is not available to be voted for, I nominate him to be included in the next round of available candidates. The nominee with the highest number of votes will be included as a candidate to vote for in round 2.

In the situation of a tiebreaker, a 24hr period will be given for people to change their votes. You can only change your vote to one of the players who shares the tiebreak.

If there's still a tie after 24hrs, I break the tie.

Simple, right?

Voting rules for non-Nets board posters:
Spoiler:
If you are not a regular on the Nets board or you don't post here often you need to vote for 3 rounds in a row in order for your votes to count.

I welcome outsiders to vote, but we don't want outsiders intentionally screwing up our rankings. No hard feelings but this is the most effective method I can use to make sure non-regular posters aren't sabotaging our system.

Here's the voting history of our Top 25 players threads since its inception:

Vote: Griffin

He didn't get much MVP love because people were hating on his jumpers, but it turned out him working on his jumper made him an offensive juggernaut this season. Once the lights came on and it was playoff time Griffin could do it all. This is a power forward who can run the point, make awesome passes (averaged like 6 assist in the playoffs and 5 in RS), deep double digit rebounds, 25 points per game in the post season - a few triple doubles. Griffin's man to man defense is also much improved, while DeAndre Jordan was getting cooked by Duncan, Griffin gave big fundamental some problems.

If Griffin had more of a tasks of doing heavy lifting he would have been an MVP candidate. I'd take him over anyone who is left.

Nominate: Aldridge

he is definitely hurt by not being the alpha on his team. if he was on another squad without paul hed be viewed as a lock top 5 player

Expanding upon my Harden vote since the conversation here is pretty light.

Found this tidbit interesting from Lowe's article yesterday on Harden's impact:
"Houston’s offense died all season with Harden on the bench. Things got especially embarrassing in the conference finals, when Golden State outscored the Rockets by 36 points in the 41 minutes Harden rested, per NBA.com. The series was almost dead even with Harden on the court, and if Lawson commits, Houston should be able to at least survive when Harden sits."

During the season the Rockets were +5.8 with him on the court and -3.0 when he sat.

Harden led the league in win shares
Harden was 2nd behind Curry in VORP
He was 3rd in RAPM behind just Lebron and Curry

There isn't much of a difference scoring wise between Westbrook and Harden, but Harden was much more efficient - 60.5 TS% vs 53.6%. Now most people usually point to FT's with Harden when discussing his efficiency, yes it's annoying to watch, but it's still a skill - drawing FT's and per 36 he and Westbrook average the same number of FT's. Harden is the much more efficient scorer.

He propped the Rockets up - they were the 2nd seed despite Howard missing half the season, Terrence Jones missing 49 games, Beverly missing 26 games. They got to the conference finals and gave the Warriors fight despite have a revolving door rotation of Terry/Prigs replacing Beverly and not having DMO. His defense was improved this past year. I know aesthetically his game isn't pleasing, but he's a great player.

We have a tie between Harden & Westbrook as well as the nominees of LMA & Dwight.

We need tiebreakers.

2Mas is kind of a regular poster here so if there are no more votes within the next few hours, Harden will win this round.

Vote: Kawhi -of of the nominenees, only Kawhi, Gasol, Blake, and Harden made the playoffs this year. And while all of these players are arguably the best at their position, I think Kawhi would be the deciding factor in a seven game series. Kawhi is an elite defender who knows when to assert himself in games. His feel for the game rivals that of Tim Duncan or Marc Gasol. Despite playing what was easily the best series of the playoffs against eachother, I think Kawhi is a much smarter player than Blake Griffin (less prone to play out of himself the way Blake can get carried away trying to be Westbrook)
