He's in the top 40 of minutes played all time.
Only 7 active players have played more than him.
He should be in the VC role - bench player on a playoff team. He's just 1,800 minutes behind Vince whose been in that role for some time now.
The problems are Lionel Hollins not realizing he's cooked, and going with other options. Billy King constructing an awful roster where we're dependent on him turning back the clock if we were to make the playoffs. Yes, I realize that his contract limits what we can do, but King traded for him and gave up assets to acquire him. We didn't give him that contract, we traded for it.
I view this as similar to Amare with the Knicks where their fans were pissed at him instead of directing anger to Donnie Walsh for giving him that contract when there were reports his knees were shot from Phoenix's medical staff and that was the reason they balked at giving him a long-term contract.

Agreed its easy to get on joe looking at his price tag and production, but honestly the guy should be a bench role player. not a guy who carries the load.
he was top 10 in the NBA in minutes last year for a guy in hsi mid 30's. we saw how thibs burned the bulls guys out, now multiply that times 10 with joe who has been used just as much while being in the twilight of his career.
its not joes fault that king traded for him or that atlanta maxed him

For all of my complaining and ripping JJ, I know he'll end up playing a bit better as the season goes on. Although a bit better than what he's doing right now is still really bad.

I'm not getting on Joe. I know he's done. and I am fine with that. I will always have respect for Joe with the way he was tearing people up 2 seasons ago. Especially in the playoffs where he put on a clinic inside and outside vs Toronto. But this is seriously bad.
He just doesn't need to start and play heavy minutes. 40 minutes the other night vs. the Bucks was the most god awful decision I've seen Hollins make.

Yea, I agree with this. The Bucks night I was complaining about it the whole 4th and after. Joe sat just 3 minutes, and played him at the 4 in the 4th. Didn't play Thad the entire 4th who was having a good game through 3. Didn't play RHJ in the 2nd.

At this moment, he's not even a starting SG on this Nets team, let alone a championship team so...

He needs to come off the bench asap for no more than 20 min a game he looks so bad out there it pains me! He cant guard and he cant get past anyone to score. His legs are gone so his jumper is off. Hollins has to tell him man to man he's coming off the bench.
Jack(smh)
Brown
Rhj
Thad
Lopez

i like the idea of lopez plus 4 hustle guys....
brown, RHJ, thad, Robinson, Brook
the complete lack of offensive options may serve to make lopez more aggressive... and not having shooters doesnt matter a ton since no lineup we use really has much shooting anyhow

Karasev has no future here. You realize we can't pay him more than $3 million next year

I don't think he's lazy, just claimed by Father Time.
Either way Karasev doesn't have a future here, he's proven to be not too good an NBA player. I don't think paying Karasev over Joe would've helped us win any of the games we've dropped this year. The roster is just terrible

if karasev has no future here its even more important to play him, see if he can showcase anything that would make anyone want to trade for him

By not extending him, his incumbent team cannot offer him more than he would be scheduled to make next season which I believe is less than $3 million. If we trade him that same rule applies. I don't see why anyone would trade for him. If he balls out on his new team, with the cap exploding another team would offer him more than $3 million and the team that traded for him wouldn't be able to retain him.

I don't believe that he's done, I just think he needs to be moved to the bench and become an anchor for them there. He's just not working in the starting line up right now.
