Nets coach Lionel Hollins after rookie Chris McCullough went through limited 5-on-5 contact practice -- his first since tearing his ACL on Jan. 11, 2015 in college: "It's nice to just have him start playing ... But he wasn't out there that long. It's another step. He's got a ways to go. ... You get the physical part (down), and now you've got to get the mental part and the timing. ... His last time playing was at Syracuse. This is the NBA. This is not Syracuse. So we've got to hopefully indoctrinate him into the schemes and plays. He really is a long ways from being an NBA player from a technical perspective."

Hollins already trying to build in reasons why he will glue him to the bench come February Lol.

those are all excellent reasons. there is no reason to rush him. we dont have much young talent, we should be cautious with it

He's got two way potential. His ceiling would be a borderline all-star. Assuming he can recover from the injury and develop his game, IMO. Obviously, his career from Syracuse is a sample size but his numbers are still impressive.

College stats

Karl Anthony Towns in 16 games

Points: 139
Blocks: 39
Steals: 6
Rebounds: 102

Chris McCullough in 16 games

Points: 149
Blocks: 33
Steals: 27
Rebounds: 110

Kids like him and RJ need a vet to show them the ropes. Jack is good but he's never been a gritty hard nose type, he's just steady. I wish they could bring in an old Net like PJ Brown or Kmart to teach these young kids the fire.

McC will be good in about 2 yrs. I have faith in that kid.

In a season full of grief and turmoil, this feels like an early birthday present. I look forward to his official debut whenever it takes place.

No need to rush him. Let him fully heal and go at it in the offseason...

As few could recall, I ask about his ability to play SF back last season, I think he can a little if he has good stroke from 3, if not, maybe it won't work... If he can strike from 3 at a good clip, defenses need to play thus allowing him to drive past his man for dunks/layups.

This kid and RHJ are the only reasons to watch the rest of this season.

Wasn't he warming up with the team last night? Is it really going to be another month before we get to see him in a game?

i cant wait to see this kid play. If he can play SF then we might have a steal. What SF can shoot, block shots and get steals. He could be the better version of Josh Smith.

i love that he tries to dunk everything and is always attacking the rim.

i think we are much better off with him at PF. if he can develop a consistent 3 point shot and be a legit stretch 4 that would be huge. especially with RHJ on the wing, would make up for his lack of shooting.

throw a solid PG and a scorer liek derozan and that could be solid if cmcc can pan out
