Anyone who said no to the idea of trading for Love should be watching this game.

I would do the deal. Lopez isn't worth keeping on a team this bad. Love is locked in to his contract for awhile. We can get him in here and build from there.

He's averaging 15/10 on 40%/36% 3pt. He could easily return to his 20/15 numbers as the main option somewhere else.

Love as a main option didn't produce a winning product....

He had one of the worst rosters accompanied by the worst GM of all time during his stint in Minnesota. He's got flaws clearly but he's a much better centerpiece than Brook.

How's he much of a centerpiece? He offers no mismatches nor advantages on others. He created an outside shot cuz he has no business inside. He gets rebounds but nothing that any other big man in the NBA couldn't....

He's your 2nd option man ideally IMO but no one to run a franchise behind. He's very self centered IMO both on and off the court.

Well, you get yourself an athletic finish/block/boards/defense big next to him and that becomes the making of a modern day nba team instead of slow and plodding lopez.

i dunno, i'm just so jaded with Lopez now that i don't care.

very true, but unlike lopez, its easy to build around love. he isnt a C, so you can bring in that defensive anchor at center to help. he stetches the floor at PF, so you can live with someone like RHJ. he is an elite post scorer so you can go to him down love if the opponent tries to go small.

Love is like lopez if your talking about not being able to be the best player on a good team. agreed. but it is much easier to put pieces around his skillset. with lopez, you need very specific pieces and alot of 2 way guys

No business inside? he is the the best player in the NBA scoring on post ups. he has been top 5 the past 3 seasons. he is an excellent post player. not to mention his work on the offensive glass/putbacks

1.03 points per possesion on posts up. tied with dirk, better then lopez:

as far as "not creating mismatches"... that is basically ALL he does. put a big on him he can take him outside. put a smaller guy on him and he will take him in the post.

He can't bang down low. He was hurt after the boston series but TT tore it up taking his spot. Would they have easily beaten ATL had Love played? Chicago as well....

Whose Love up against down low? PFs?

I think D'Antoni has shown that post-ups are the most inefficient play in basketball. Unless you have a guy like Shaq or LBJ who are always a mismatch when they back down, slowing down the offense so your one guy can bang down low and struggle to gain position for a shot that's usually contested around the rim isn't good.

I'd want a guy who the second he catches the ball can make a move that will force the defense to adjust and collapse so my player can either hit the open man or take it to the rim for a layup and possible And-1. We can maintain ball movement and floor spacing.

I agree that Love cannot be a #1 option on a contender but I do believe he possesses the skills to be a #2. IMO, the problem with Cleveland isn't just that he's the #3 option but it's how he's used.

At the beginning of the season, he was the #1 option and LBJ basically chose his spots. It gave Love his touches, really showing that he there was little-to-no drop off from his MIN days, and LBJ took up the role of focusing on defense. It was great early on.

As the season has progressed, they've slowly shifted back to the style they used to play last season and now that Kyrie is back, it's gone almost all the way back. LBJ and Kyrie are just so ball dominant (hence the reason why Kyrie is a great individual talent but is woefully poor at setting up a team offense and ball distribution) that there is no way for Love to really have a major impact on the offensive end outside of shooting 3s.

I think Love would do well on a team in which his PG and wings still touch the ball a lot but don't need it as much as Kyrie and LBJ do. He'd probably be way more effective if he played with someone like John Wall, who is a willing distributor and knows how to run his team.

You have never seen Love play when he was on the Wolves? He used to tear people up down low, the way he is forced to play on the Cavs is like night and day compared to his Wolves days.

Love actually knows how to establish position on the block to receive a clean entry pass, he has excellent footwork and makes quick decisions when the defense comes to help. He's just a superior player to Lopez in every aspect of the game aside from rim protection.

How can you say "he cant bang low"? that is pretty much just a blind criticism.

Cant bang down low, yet is among the best rebounders in the league

cant bang down low, but is the best post scorer in the league this year, and top 3 year after year.

what exactly are you basing this "cant bang down low" stuff on. the guy is hard nosed. he does a ton of damage inside. because he shoots 3s somehow he isnt allowed to also get it done inside? there is a reason he has been a 25+ ppg scorer in this league and rebounding champ.

would they have beatern atlanta/chicago if he stay healthy? of course they would. you make it sound like love is some negative value soft scrub.

Whose Love up against down low? PFs?

He is a PF, of course he is going against other power forwards. who else woudl he go against? PGs? Centers?
