Nets Waive Andrea Bargnani
Bargnani has been named as a buy out candidate, and now ESPN is reporting that buyout negotiations have begun.
We'll get to see Marks in action as he looks to fill the roster spot. So how would you like Marks to fill the spot?
I'd like to see a dleague PG get a 10 day contract. Preferably one who can defend well. Russ Smith or Lorenzo Brown are nice options to look at.

Like the draft, I'm of the opinion that we try and get the best available talent signed. If they don't seem to work out, on to the next one. This is about stockpiling long term talent and establishing fit.

I would sign Erick Green or Rakeem Christmas to a 10 day. We could potentially have two open spots depending on what happens with Joe.

Re: What to do with Bargnanis roster spot?
nothing, give more minutes to the youngins - Brown, RHJ, CMac, TRob + Reed, and Karasev. the Nets have enough players on their roster that need to develop and unless there's a veteran PG out there, they'd be better off sticking with + developing what they have

Re: What to do with Bargnanis roster spot?
What happened to that guy that scored like 50 points in a d league game a few weeks back??
We need to go after a point guard and I think Nets should buy out Karasev instead of Joe and add shooter. Joe seems like he wants to stay here and I wouldn't mind bringing him back on a cheap deal and plus I would't want him going to a rival team and help them out if we buy him out.

We can still give minutes to the young players, which I'm all in favor of. That's why I think it would also be a good idea to bring in a young PG from the DLeague and see if we can find something.

I seriously don't understand this logic. If we didn't do anything there'd be no point in buying out Bargs. It's not like Bargs sitting on the bench means Reed couldn't play. We cut him for the roster spot, which we then use to fill with hopefully a young unproven talent.

Erick Green deserves a chance, he is a good player, there are always some untapped gems to scout, also in Europe.

can somebody explain the negative value of Andrea Bargnani to this guy? By every metric available to analyze the effectiveness of a ballplayer and the team's performance when he is on the court, Bargnani is the absolute worst player in the NBA- he doesn't pass, too slow to defend, doesn't really rebound or protect the rim all too effectively, and shoots it every time the ball touches his hand. Although part of Bogdanovic's resurgence is due to Coach Brown giving him a longer leash than Hollins, another huge part is the ball movement he's enjoyed. I can't tell you how many times Bogs has been open for 3 but instead of looking for him Bargnani was chucking like he's Jordan. Bargani is a bad player if you want to develop others, because others rarely get the ball when he is on the court. The point of buying out Bargs is to let others develop. The Nets have more than enough players in Reed, TRob, CMac, Markel, RHJ, and Karasev who are going to need the opportunity to have the ball in their hands more and shoot more shots already. Adding another player in the mix who is going to play over these guys threatens to stifle their development. Especially a D-league player known for chucking the ball no matter how good their FG% is - the Nets need more willing ball movement if the youngins are going to get a fair shot to thrive

If you're not looking to add someone to the roster, then you can just keep Bargs in a suit every night on the end of the bench and not play him...so he wouldnt be on the court. By waiving him, we are effectively saying we value the roster spot over whatever he contributes to our team. So not adding someone doesn't make sense now. Got it? Good.
That being said, I think we should take a shot at Perry Jones. Last I saw he was cut from Boston, don't think he's on any NBA team right now. Give him a 10-day.

karasev has no future here, just buy him out already.

i think hollins and team wanted bargnani to score cause our bench was so bad. i dont fully blame bargnani cause bench sucked.

I agree with this, but I'm hesitant to totally ignore a big man if they're talented. Since Thad and Brook should be available as soon as the offseason begins, I'm willing to take whatever the best talent is and see if we can turn it into an asset either for us, or one that we can flip down the road (or allows us to flip Thad or Brook as a result).

What to do with Bargnanis roster spot?
Less than 48 Hours since taking the job and Marks' first move as a GM is getting rid of Bargnani lol
Meanwhile, Billy King signed Bargnani over Cliff Alexander. Just another blunder for the record books.

Re: What to do with Bargnanis roster spot?
Now Reed, Robinson and Cmac get more burn in the front court. Awesome.
Who to sign now? Whoever seems like the most logical pickup to boost our scoring off the bench. Haven't been following Dleague but ill cosign whoever you guys think the best move is lol.
