The Sean Marks Performance Thread

Since the other thread was derailed. This one is strictly dedicated to evaluate our new GM's moves, his vision, coaching list and of course, media interviews.
Marks on Prokhorov:
"I think he understands now that there's not a quick fix all the time and there's processes you have to go through and when you skip steps, you potentially wind up paying a lot of money and it doesn't work out all the time...."
"They're showing me, 'We're willing to go ahead and try to do this. Now, it's about doing it the right way and not skipping steps along the way.'"

This guy really has an amazing sense of the big picture. I am happy to hear he is seriously committed to growing the staff. It maybe coincidence but since we've had a solid shooting coach, it seems that guys with confidence issues (Brown and Bogs) have really been showing their stuff. I imagine he'll continue this 10 fold, as he seems adamant about it in every interview, the importance of proper staff to enhance the team itself. Moreover, he keeps bringing everything back to the 15 guys on the roster, which looks to me that he'll be focused on calculated roster additions and subtractions.
I really get why the Nets saw this as their guy.

He's said all the right things so far and has made two good moves for the evaluation of our talent going forward (buying out JJ and Barganani). I have confidence he's going to change the culture, ready for them to hire a coach though.

Why buy the cow when the milk is for free?
Why would the Cavs or any other team trade with us when they just have to wait until we buy players out?
Buying out DWill made sense since it got us under the tax line. Buying out Bargs and Joe made no sense.
Bargs might have still opted out of his contract at the end of the year. We should have just waited until he made a decision.
We are paying Joe to win with another team.
Both situations hurt us in future negotiations. Capitulation is a poor way of bargaining.

The fact that they are signaling to the fanbase that they are going to build this team up properly with patience and an emphasis on developing talent + cutting ticket prices next season? wow. That scores points with me already.
If Marks has a fire sale at the draft that could also be a good reason to slash prices but then again, I don't see the logic in trading Lopez or Young unless the offer is just too good to refuse.

For christ's sake, again with this stuff? Joe & Bargnani???
#1 you wouldn't have gotten a bag of BALLS from the Cavs for Joe. What do they have to offer? Who in god's name would trade for Joe Johnson at 24 mil or whatever while posting a 10 PER rating 51%TS and a negative all over the damn place? I like Joe but he's not worth trading anything for.
#2 We have young players to develop. When RHJ comes back that's even less time on the perimeter, Joe had to go. We are seeing a serious improvement right now in Markel Brown, you want to cut his time down now when he seems to be headed towards a breakthough offensively to wheel Joe's corpse out there?? C-Mac needs playing time in the front court to get his legs underneath him, we need to see what we have in Robinson and Reed. Bargnani's garbage ass had to go.
Both subtractions are A+ moves and last night we saw both Brown and Bojan play excellent basketball with the additional minutes and responsibility with Johnson not holding the ball. Will that be a trend upwards? Maybe not. But we have to see what we have and who we need to keep around in the next phase. Joe is not apart of the plan...let the guy go play with a team where he can be of some use. He's not some piece of trash like Deron, he was basically run into the ground by the Nets physically, why not let the go guy try to win something? Win/Win situation
Both cuts by Marks are A+ moves.

Im so glad we cut Joe so he could go play for the Heat. Not the Cavs. Not the Warriors. Not the Spurs or Thunder but the Heat.
The Heat will be lucky to make it out of the first round let alone contend for a title. SMH

He's a 2 who plays big. THIS is why we cut Joe and Bargs. The roster spots are much more valuable than whatever they bring to our team right now. Cutting Joe gives us enough wiggle room to make signings on prospects without going into the tax.

Yes this is perfect, is he really the best wing in the D-league? He has a nice touch and shooting stroke, what we need. He won that game for the Pelicans, I wonder why they let him go . We should look to get a point guard now

I like that he plays with poise and doesn't look like the turnover machines Larkin and Sloan are. Obviously, not expecting much but if he can play better than those guys, it's a win.
