Who's #12?

***Voting Deadline: Friday Midnight***

Voting rules for non-Nets board posters:
Spoiler:
If you are not a regular on the Nets board or you don't post here often you need to vote for 3 rounds in a row in order for your votes to count.

I welcome outsiders to vote, but we don't want outsiders intentionally screwing up our rankings. No hard feelings but this is the most effective method I can use to make sure non-regular posters aren't sabotaging our system.

Here's the voting history of our Top 25 players threads since its inception:
Spoiler:

SInce Lillard and LMA don't play defense, I've replaced their pics with non-defense related material.

Can I just vote for Draymond Green? I think it's ridiculous he hasn't been voted in yet.

He was easily the best big in the league this year...I don't see the case for LMA, Love, Cousins, or Davis.

And he was definitely better than Klay Thompson or Paul George. Literally nobody felt that Klay Thompson was a top 2 player on the Warriors this year, it was Curry and Green, and then Thompson.

Green is the best defensive player in the league (or 2nd best), and he's one of the most useful offensive players around. Altogether, I would take him over anyone but a handful of guys.

Vote: Draymond Green

its absurd to put green ahead of any of those guys other then love. i can only imagine the insane production Davis would have on the warriors

idd also say klay thomspon is significantly better.

green is a very good defender with an exceptional bbiq. but he is more like this generations divac then some superstar. and his enviornment plays a big role for him. how many times does he catch the ball near the top of the key with no one defending him after a curry or klay trap?

"Very good defender" is selling him short...he's the best defensive player in the game, robbed of a DPOY for the 2nd year straight.

Offensively, I've gone back and forth on Green, but the truth is, nobody else in the league could really replicate what he's doing on the Warriors. From his ball handling, to his passing, to his shooting, to his rolling...he's an utterly unique offensive player that's doing things nobody else has ever done before. He's a PF/C that actually runs the PnR as the ball handler, and it's his decision-making that leads to a lot of open shots for the Warriors. Anthony Davis, Lamarcus Aldridge, Demarcus Cousins...none of them can really do all of what Green does offensively, and he destroys them defensively.

Klay Thompson isn't on Green's level, and it's not all that close tbh. He scores more points. So what?

And it's not Klay Thompson that gets trapped, it's Stephen Curry. And without Stephen Curry in these playoffs...Green has done exceptionally well. And he's consistently done well without Curry. So you really can't say his offense is only because of who he plays with...he's really good in his own right. And I'd rather have an elite defender that is super versatile offensively at my 4/5 spot than guys that simply shoot a lot. Green does more on both sides of the ball than they do.

i think he is extremely replaceable offensively. anothony davis would go way beyond what draymond provides. probably on both ends. i dont think he is the leagues best defender. he is a very good defender. id say he is probably overrated a bit. not an elite rim protector and he goe sup mostly against non-offensive bigs. he isnt shutting down elite wings nightly like kawaii

draymond isnt a role guy, but he is certainly helped immensly by the system and talent around him.

he isnt half the player davis is

Davis doesn't handle the ball, pass, or shoot like Draymond. In what way is he going to do better than Draymond on the Warriors? Asking him to score more points than Draymond while probably taking more touches away from Curry and Klay is exactly what not to do.

Defensively, Green can legitimately guard 1-5 and he's the driving force behind the Warriors being able to play pretty much any lineup they want. His mobility, his versatility, his IQ...it's all time great, and it really goes way beyond simplistic "well he's not shutting down these guys 1 on 1" kind of analysis.

Of course he's aided by the talent and the system in place...but that talent and system also thrives in large part because of everything he brings to the table, which Davis wouldn't be able to do, LMA wouldn't be able to do, Cousins wouldn't be able to do, etc.

Literally all they can do better than Draymond is create shots for themselves, which is pretty useless on the Warriors, because they don't rely on that most of the time, and when they do, they have Curry, who's better at it than anyone else, so you don't really need Davis's creation. You need more complementary skills, and nobody does that like Draymond.

I think you're confusing "talent" with "good". Davis and LMA and Cousins have talent, but the fact of the matter is, their talent doesn't help their teams nearly as much as Draymond helps his.

I agree, this list is ridiculous. I can compensate on Harden being too high but, not Cousins or Klay being even in the top 12. That why I stopped voting.

No, you can't vote for someone who isn't a nominee yet.

I don't agree with the list either but it's not about making the list look our own. Everyone will have the opportunity to post their personal top 25 at the end, if they want.

he does pass. he just doenst have that role with the pelicans... his role is to score and create offense. he doesnt catch the ball wide open at the FT line with tons of room and options playing 4-3 cause curry got trap double teamed at mid court.

Asking him to score more points than Draymond while probably taking more touches away from Curry and Klay is exactly what not to do.

he wouldnt need more shots. Davis is one of the most efficient players in the league. you are talking about a guy who posted a 31 PER last season. give davis the ball with no one around him at the FT line and their offense gets even better. other then shoot 3s, there isnt one single thing green does better

Defensively, Green can legitimately guard 1-5 and he's the driving force behind the Warriors being able to play pretty much any lineup they want. Davis is a better defender then green. put him on the warriors and he is doing all the same things defensively, only at a higher level.

Of course he's aided by the talent and the system in place...but that talent and system also thrives in large part because of everything he brings to the table, which Davis wouldn't be able to do, LMA wouldn't be able to do, Cousins wouldn't be able to do, etc.

Davis wouldnt only do it, he would do it better... singificantly better

Literally all they can do better than Draymond is create shots for themselves, which is pretty useless on the Warriors, because they don't rely on that most of the time, and when they do, they have Curry, who's better at it than anyone else, so you don't really need Davis's creation. again, other then shoot 3s davis does everything better. score, pass, rebound, defender in isolation, defend the pick and roll, protect the rim, etc. its not even close. davis is twice the player and the warriors would be even better with him

You stopped voting because the group didn't vote the same way you voted?

It's the "Nets board's top 25". One of the main reasons I started this a few years ago is because I wanted to hear the logic behind our personal rankings of players. While I think it's cool that the board has a record of our rankings as a group, I really wanted us to be discussing and arguing more about our picks. Not just casting a vote and not sharing.

If you feel players should be high, tell people why they're wrong and you're right. Give your reasons and try to convince others.

One of the reasons why this board has gotten so small is because we've largely stopped sharing opinions and being willing to listen to the viewpoints of others. I know a few people who left the board because they felt that there were a few people just dominating conversations, only making their voice heard without listening to others.

I don't do this every few months just to waste time. I want this board to be more of a community. I understand why you'd just stop if things aren't going the way you expected, but how do you expect things to get any better (if you believe your view is the best) if you don't share and make a case for it?
