Hopefully this guy can stay healthy because he is a fun player to watch. He has serious hops and can shoot from three as well as handle the ball.

In the Dunc'd On Podcast mock offseason, TJ got the same offer and the Heat matched it. So it's not a lock, but according to Woj it's highly unlikely the Heat match.

Either way, love him as an upside signing. If he can be healthy he's got some serious game that can develop

watching more videos on this kid and he looks like he'll be a fan favorite in Brooklyn.

I'm thinking of Jason Williams combined with Gerald Green

Question: How much money do we still have now? Could there be any SG/PFs that teams are looking to trade for the space?

I say we should go after Taj Gibson. He's got $9 million left on a 1 year deal. Pry him away from the Bulls for Bogs if we can.

This should make it officially clear to every one that Marks is going after FA in 2017. They didn't sign a poison pill contract just because they want to make it harder for Miami to resign. It's guaranteed low money over the next two years, which conveniently allows for a low cap hit next year.

However, aside from that Marks needs to have something else in play. This (current) roster isn't attracting anyone noteworthy. Unless he's hoping to sit down 3 stars and sell them on playing together, there's no chance great players would come to Brooklyn.

I've only seen him play very little so I can't judge him too much. I assume Atkinson and Marks really think this guy can breakout although I really hope that they're trying to get a #2 with actual starting experience.

EDIT: Wait, isn't there something about poison pill contracts where the cap hit is evenly spread out over the number of years of the contract even though the actual salary committed to the player for each season differs?

I would think you'd be pissed at this since you are a Seton Hall fan. I'm hearing everyone is mad that we sign LIn since Whitehead is not gonna get as much minutes anymore. Now TJ?!?!? What will happen to Whitehead

He's a got a player option on the 4th season. Unless he's complete garbage, you'd imagine that he'd opt out and go for a longer deal.

The Gilbert Arenas provision allows Johnson to make $5.6 million and $5.8 million in the first two years of the deal, but salaries of $18.8 million and $19.6 million in 2018-19 and 2019-20 make the offer sheet more prohibitive for the Heat to match.

For the Nets, they’re trying to complete a free-agent backcourt that includes Jeremy Lin (three years, $36 million) and Johnson.

Johnson had several comparable offer sheets, but the opportunity for playing time in Brooklyn, the chance to play for new coach Kenny Atkinson and under general manager Sean Marks’ evolving new shingle sold him on Brooklyn.

Sacramento, Chicago, Charlotte and New Orleans were among aggressive suitors for Johnson, league sources said.

He is only going to count about $12.5 million against the cap every year.

It's on Miami's salary cap that in his third year, they will have him at $18.8 million. But the first two years are very cheap, so they should match.

EDIT: for some reason I thought it was $40M/4

The cap hit for Nets will be 12.5 for all 4 years. The poison pill is only effective for Miami.

Nice offer. Tough decision for Miami as they'll need someone to succeed Wade.
