A point to keep in mind is that the result of this game has implications not only for the Nets pick but for the Celtics pick as well. So it will influence where the Nets draft, regardless of whether the pick option is exercised (it will be) or not.

The Celtics record will matter when the Nets pick at that spot after the pick swap.

I hope Bennett actually gets some meaningful minutes this game.

Boston fans are angry all the time and have enough times on their hands to follow 2 teams religiously. Its safe to say they probably don't live the exciting or successful lives.

For the year 2017 and 2018, the Nets are essentially an extension of the Celtics. You are our "us", or what could've been us, tanking by proxy. I will always have a warm place in the bottom of my heart for the Nets... at least until the end of 2018. No ill feelings from me.

Saw this on Reddit.

We don't play a team on the second half of a back to back from November 2nd to February 1st. During that same time period the Knicks play 10 teams on the second half of back to backs.

Such bull

This might help the Nets, don't you think ?

Not sure if the Nets aren't scheduled to play any games on the second half of back to backs, or if the Nets aren't scheduled to face any opponents who are on the second half of back to backs :-?

It's ironic what some of you have come to believe about us, when far more of this ^ goes on over here than over on our board (as far as I've witnessed, anyway). We've had some good-spirited banter/trash talk lately with a couple of Nets fans who have wandered over - no bans or mod intervention or vitriol necessary.

It is rational that we should be very interested in tracking your pick, and hoping for it to be as low as possible. Were the tables turned, would you all really just not pay attention to our pick at all? Of course you would - you'd be cheering for every last loss, knowing each one could make the difference between a "nice" asset, or a franchise player.

For my part, I have nothing whatsoever against your team or your city. It happens that I've never been to Brooklyn (or New York in general), but I have no reason to hold any negative opinions about it, or any of you (well, I mean, except MDB). Your FO has really made the best of a bad situation, and given you a likeable team that manages to stay in most games and make them watchable. That certainly makes things more stressful for us, as half of us are totally expecting this one to either be a loss or a way-too-close-for-comfort win (also Crowder may not go?).

Well, anyway, I'm not here to stroke egos - we need this game - we want to sweep you if we can - we want you to have the worst overall record and nab us the #1 pick if at all possible. But we'd want all the same things if our fates were intertwined with Phoenix or Memphis instead. It's nothing personal. It's just how it is, for the next couple years.

Let's all get through this one healthy.

NOPE, no Lin. This is number 1 NOPE. I don't see us win this game.

Stop evading the language filter.

I've said this before and I will say it now again.

The generalizing and "other"-izing of people with whom you do not share the same worldview, locale, and political/social commentary needs to stop.

One of the most notable posters on this board (Prok) lives in Boston. He does not claim that all Bostonians are racists.

I've traveled to Boston at least 40 times over the last two years and have stayed multiple days during each visit. No one has said anything racist to me in the least.

Does this mean that there are no racists in Boston? No, it doesn't.

But what it almost definitely means is that it is not right to refer to all people of Boston (or any one location) as racist or any other general positive/negative attribute.

Urban areas/cities are the most culturally diverse places on earth. If you're going to make the claim that all people of a certain demographic/locale share the exact same mentality, it behooves you to make a cogent argument proving the case. That's not what's happening here. We're just stirring up more negativity and extending historical events to present day mythologies and stereotypes. This is not good.

For us on this board, this also applies to the fans of Jeremy Lin on this board. Just because one fan says something you do not agree with doesn't make it right to say that ALL Lin fans are x,y,z.

Many people of various racial, ethnic, religious, and socio-political backgrounds hate to be portrayed as a monolith that looks the same, thinks the same, and behave the same.

In short, if we hate when it's done to us, why would we do it to others?

Stop referring to all Bostonians as racist, angry, filth, etc. Stop referring to all Lin fans as homers, blind, etc. Stop generalizing. If you have a problem with one or two individuals, address those people.

Do not extrapolate from that infinitesimally small sample size that all people of a certain group act in a certain way.

PSA over...

I didn't call anybody racist. I'm just observing their behavior. A lot of times on their hands and they like to pick on the nets. To call a team a bottom 5 team, yet follow them religiously for 3 years is pathetic. They really have nothing better to do with their time? They're either a bunch of middle school kids or they don't have lives. Hawks fans never acted like this....

Woah! I can't believe I just wasted a whole minute of my life keeping track of your(our) pick! I seriously need to make some changes in my life, especially now considering I just wasted a whole nother precious minute typing this!

This is not a positive contribution to this thread and will only lead to further derailment.

This is the Nets forum, so it should be expected that the pick situation will still be a sore spot. There's no need to rub it in.
