Juan Pablo Vaulet to meet with Nets this week

Vaulet, the Nets only stashed draft pick, will spend six days, starting Tuesday, with the Nets, taking advantage of a break in the the Argentine league schedule. He was drafted and stashed in 2015 by the Billy King regime, and has yet to meet Sean Marks, assistant GM Trajan Langdon or Kenny Atkinson, he said.
“Since the draft, my rights have been held by Brooklyn” he told Basquet Plus. “But the leadership from that time has changed. So this trip offered me a chance to go to meet the new managers, talk about my situation and also show who I am.
“I hope they tell me a little about my situation, whether they are interested in me or not, what it is they want from me and what they see ... I do not have much an idea of what is going to happen. I will find out there.”
He expects most of his time will be spent working out —”training”— with the Nets staff. He expects to attend Nets games, presumably starting Wednesday. “I will be with the team,” he said. Vaulet also expects to renew his friendship with fellow Argentine Luis Scola who told NetsDaily in preseason that he “believes” in Vaulet’s talent and character.
He believes he can make it in the NBA.
For those not familiar, Vaulet was selected 39th in the 15' draft. We acquired him from Charlotte for cash + 2 second rounders (2019). Another overpay by Billy King.
He's drawn playing style comparisons to Manu Ginobili. He's actually been coached by Manu's brother for most of his professional life but has been plagued by ankle injuries for the last couple of seasons stunting his development.
Should we hold onto his rights?

I'm intrigued to hear more about how he fares practicing along with the team this week. He'll likely spend some time with Nored's squad. Perhaps he'll be enticed by an opportunity to build his career through joining the D-League roster. I also wouldn't mind if the FO decides to hold onto his rights while allowing Vaulet to find some success starting professionally overseas, build his resume with some success, and develop into a player who can hold his own against competition with more refined skillsets like Bojan.
Just my uninformed opinion but Vaulet should, at the very least, be afforded the opportunity to square off in Summer League against Caris LeVert and whomever the Nets draft this summer.

Idk how to compare JPV from his club games.... tough to assess....
Initially i don't see a quick burst with the ball so idk how that would fare in the pros, but that could be from the video....
IDK if the new CBA allows it but teams should be able to bring players to their dleague affiliate and not count towards the 15 man roster....
definitely bring him in next summer and see what he is vs NBA mold players...

Yeah, he's not a shooter. His shooting is still raw. He's averaging close to 10p/6r/2a on 49% FG in 25 minutes per game. Posting a 17.6 PER. He's probably a better finisher than Rondae, though.

I believe the new CBA has provisions for 2-way contracts that would pay him differently depending on how much time he spent in the D-League vs. in the NBA, and the new 2-way contract slot is in addition to the 15 man roster, so it's an extra roster spot.

that's huge....
The D-league can certainly grow and benefit from this while the pro teams can stash their own "projects" close to home and monitor them and work with them closely.

at about 2:15 of the video they talk about his visit with the Nets and how his shooting form is drastically different from a year ago.
What if we have something with him?

We'll likely sign him to one of the CBA two way contracts. Developing him for a full season in Long Island.
