Long Island Nets Acquire D-League rights to RJ Hunter

THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT RJ HUNTER IS ON THE NBA ROSTER, OR THAT HUNTER IS BROOKLYN NETS PROPERTY

Nice move by the LI Nets. Even better move for the main team because they'll get a first hand look at RJ Hunter. Also gives the nets a chance to get a look at a possible Bogs replacement in case they decide to pull the trigger and trade Bogs.

Its cool that we were able to get our hands (kinda) on RJ Hunter this easily. I was one of the people hoping we would be able to draft him with the pick that ended up being McCullough. After final cuts, a bunch of people speculated that Hunter would get a contract from the nets.

It means the Nets are intrigued and will use Long Island to scout him and see if he's worth keeping.

Love it. I wanted them to pick him up since Boston release him.

Haha, how cool. The Celts got our pick and took James Young. Didn't want to give up on the 17th pick and gave up on their 28th pick. Now we've got their 28th pick.

RJ is a good shooter that can pass. Very good character. Needs to fill it up tho, too thin.

The moment he plays better we can sign him.

If he stays till next year it'd be even better with the new rules.

I wanted him first!!!! This is the right move cuz, like it or not, RJ fits with what the team does offensively......

Only a matter of time dinwiddie is dropped n hunter is signed

It's hard to get excited since we don't own his NBA rights.

Unless we cut bait on some dead weight, he's going to get poached.

The Nets have to decide on Dinwiddie tomorrow. We could have a roster spot for him by Sunday if we wanted him.

If we don't cut him, all of the his 3-year deal becomes guaranteed?

I believe he gets a full year guarantee and the other two are optional.

This is nice, but looks like he only hit one jumper.

He needs to hit his jumper in order to stay in this league.

Hope he gets that going soon.

I think he will definitely catch on somewhere. Too bad the Cs couldn't keep him. He has a beautiful shot but it doesn't seem to go in the hoop much.

The Celtics didn't have much roster space to develop him enough. He needs some development with a shooting specialist and some playing time.

27 Points, 4 Assists, 7-8 FG, 5-6 3PT, 8-8 FT, +14 in 21 minutes. Hunter is going HAM as a Net.

It's WAY to early to dump McCullough who still is on his rookie deal for two more seasons and racking up numbers in the D-League himself.
As soon as the deadline is over, there is no need for Foye or Scola's expiring contracts anymore and the Nets could waive them, give them the opportunity to join a playoff team and use their roster spots in order to give young guys like Hunter an opportunity. As Hunter is a shooting guard, the obvious way of creating space for him would be waiving Foye.

So, if McCullough explodes in Philly or Boston. Then what? It's Sean's fault like the Yogi situation? I don't get why some are so quick to get rid of him.
