In the Trade and Transactions there was an argument
Would a rebuilding team rather have Horford or Deng

I thought this was pretty stupid and Horford would be the correct answer
What do y'all think?

Some call me an "Al Hater" but even factoring in his RIDICULOUS contract and his aversion to contact I take him over Deng easily.

LuOL Deng was completely shot last year. Horrendous in virtually all aspects of the game. At least with Horford, who is still productive, there's a chance you can ship him to a contender without having to send out a first rounder or two to dump him (there's also a remote chance he would opt out of the final year of his contract if your team was bad enough ).

IMO you would act. Get a 2nd rounder back but yeah get your point

With Horford I think - depending on the team you trade with - you may be able to structure a trade where you 1) get some expirings (or players with 2 years remaining) 2) but also have to take at least 1 bad contract 3) and also get a first rounder (which presumably would be a late first)

With Deng I just don't see that possibility. In terms of on the court play, Deng has zero value. He may have been one of the 10 worst players in the league last year.

its a coin toss. id lean towards deng

Deng costs much less on less years. his lack of on court impact is irrelevant if you are rebuilding

Horford has more value and could be flipped later. his on court impact is irrelevant given a rebuild and his age

My guess is that Deng took the money and didn't like the tanking.

He was terrific for Miami in the playoffs just a year ago.
