In conclusion, with balace on both offense and defense side,
Our best position next year:
pg: Lin,Dinwiddie,Goodwin,Russell
sg: Whitehead, kilpatrick,Goodwin,Russell
sf: Levert, Carroll
pf: acy , RHJ,booker
C: Mozgov ,ACY,Booker,

Lin : both good on offense and defense
Dinwiddie : very good on defense. Offense is average
Whitehead : very good on both defense and offense
Levert : very good on offense , defense is also not bad
acy: good on offense and defense
Mozgov: good defense, but bad offense
RHJ: Good defense, average offense
Russell: very bad defense , good offense
Carroll: average offense, ( on defense side, DEF WS is good, but on court dffense ORtg is bad, i don't

know he is good or not )

next year line up i guess:
lin, russell, carroll, RHJ or Levert, Mozgov
(with carroll and mozgov, defense will be better than last year, but i am worrying Russell's defense;

on offense side, we will down grade with Lopez left; Russell is our X factor, if he improve his defense to average , we will better than last year)

Whitehead, Levert is our most potential player, we need development them. They are both good on defense and offense. RHj and Dinwiddie is also good.

to be continue...

on court offense ORtg - on court defense ORtg is very important , it reflect who is a good player ,it is a balance on offense and defense.

for example ,Brook Lopes is +5.0 last year .
( refer to last column on http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/lopezbr01/on-off/2017 )

Then let see the stars and allstars in the league when they were on their rookie year to third year on NBA.

below were the rookie, second year, third year stats:

LeBron James: +2.1 / +8.8 / +10.4
Kevin Durant: -8.7 / -8.6 / +16.5
Russell Westbrook: +3.8 / +3.2 / -8.5
James Harden: +3.8 / +2.8 / +8.0
Stephen Curry: +2.1 / +4.5 / +11
Klay Thompson: -2.6 / +1.2 / +15.4
Blake Griffin: +5.4 / +18.8 / +1.3
Jimmy Butler: +8.2 / +5.2 / +6.5
Paul George: +2.4 / +7.3 / +8.8
Isaiah Thomas: +7.8 / +3.7 / +9.5
Anthony Davis: -1.2 / +1.9 / +11.3
LaMarcus Aldridge : +4.9 / +2.9 / +10.2
Kemba Walker: +0.7 / +3.4 / +8.8
Kyrie Irving: +4.7 / +1.0 / -4.3
Damian Lillard: +9.1/ +6.5 / +2.3
DeMarcus Cousins: -2.8 / +3.5 / -3.6
Kawhi Leonard: -4.6 / +5.8 / +3.8
John Wall: -3.5 / -3.2 / +6.7
CJ McCollum: -7.2 / +1.0 / +5.5
Giannis Antetokounmpo: +7.0 / -0.6 / +3.9
Carmelo Anthony: -0.8 / +1.8/ +0.6
Kyle Lowry:+23.9 / +4.4 / -1.2
Gordon Hayward: -8.6 / +2.2 / +5.6
Kevin Love: -3.6 / +5.4 / +3.7
Dwyane Wade: +3.4/ -1.9/ +15.2
Derrick Rose: -8.2 / +4.4 / +2.7
DeMar DeRozan: -7.1 / -3.3 / +3.9
Brook Lopez: -0.3 / -2.1 / +0.9
Jeremy Lin : +5.6/ +4.6 / -2.9

you can find 100% the stars they get [+] positive stats on the first three year. Expecially Lebro,Durant,Thompson,Curry,Anthony Davis,Wade, they imrproved very much. The first three years already reflected the potentially to be a star player.

Then let see our team's young player
Dinwiddie -6.8 / -18.7 / +3.1
goodwin: -12.3 / -16.4/ -4.1
Levert: +5.1
Whitehead +6.0
RHJ: +5.4/ +1.6
Harris: -18.5 / -64.2 / -6.0
Russell: -5.1 / -4.6

In conclusion, goodwin ,Harris is no way to be a star. If Russell can't not improve this year , and his stats is still [-] ,he will never be a star. Levert , Whitehead and RHJ are our hope....

Oldjim I suggest watching footage of Lakers vs Nets this past season. Because Russell was destroying the very people that you're trying to say are better than him in your first post.

The summer has blurred some folks memory.

32 pts, 8 rebs, 4 asts / 7 threes. His rookie season he spanked our scrub lineup of Sloan/Ellington for 39 Pts, 8 threes. He is by far the most talented guard in the last few drafts. In a re-draft, D'angelo still goes Top 5. Most rookies from this season is his age so we basically acquired a Top 3 pick for a bad contract.

I'm not saying the kid can't turn out to be a disappointment in terms of upside but why continuously think he is gonna be when the kid has improved his numbers in his sophomore year?

His efficiency is raw but are we going to factor in the Lakers were tanking and pandering to Kobe during his first two seasons? Two different coaches and one that hated him and the idea of starting a rookie.

RHJ was thrusted into a toxic situation with Billy King and then Lionel Hollins who was forced to start RHJ and even put him in the rotation. He's been around three new shooting coaches now since being a member of the Nets.

We constantly can give RHJ a pass for his flaws but totally act like Russell is on the verge of going to china. It's silly.

He ended the half of the season in a tanking role averaging near 19/5/3. That's pretty good trajectory for a 21 year old guard. I mean most teams suck and most prospects are inefficient or struggling to know what a good and a great shot is especially in a era where teams are looking to suck hard for draft picks.

The Lakers still finished with a lot more wins than us and at one point had a decent record last year and quite honestly, RHJ and LeVert are still far behind D'angelo in terms of being an NBA starter. Russell has seen more winning than any of our prospects have.

Eh. Russell also put up a 11pt stinker (2-10 FG) against Skil and Whitehead the last time he played the Nets.

Let's just enjoy the season and reserve judgment until he gets a full Nets season under his belt. I'm excited to see how his talents are expressed under Kenny's system.

Lakers started 10-10 and finished 16-46.
Brooklyn started 5-15 and finished 15-47.

Lakers finished the season 5-1 while Brooklyn finished 3-3 otherwise the Nets played just as well as the Lakers did for 3/4 of the season.

Nicholson -24.2

nets offseason
out:
lopez +5.0
McDaniels +2.9
Foye -1.5

in:
Mozgov -1.8
Carroll -2.5
Russell -4.6

i don't think we will better than last year with the stats. We are still the worst team in the league.
X factor:
1. Russell improve his defense, on offense he is a upgrade of Foye, only worry his defense.
2. Levert, whitehead,RHJ continue to grown , hope one of them become star level.
3. lin is healthy, he is only 70% healty last year and lost his speed after 3th injuiry.
4. kenny's system help Carroll, Mozgov, Russell

Carroll, Mozgov, Russell will be starter next year, our starter lineup may be worse than last year. i hope whitehead ,Levert will get at least 25 mins each games.

jj redick and johnson is really good, they will help our team so much, kcp is not really good last year.

Crabbe was even worse than Russell, he was negative every years in POR. Both on offense or defense he was negative when he on court. Next season , if we start both Russell and Crabbe , you can image how bad of our defense .... this two guy are the same type with no athletic and defend, cannot drive and attack the rim.. Russell may be better because of his passing skill.

Last season we became better because our defense was good, jump from bottom to top ten after ALLSTAR break. It was because Kilpatrick (-0.1), Booker(-2.7) benched, Scola(-2.9) ,Bogdanovi (-5.6)left, Haris (-6.0)injury. And Lin was back(+3.5),Levert(+5.1)started, Dwinwiddie(+3.1),McDaniels (+2.9),Acy(+5.0)join our team. You can see why our team get about 50% win at the end of the season, because our defense improved so much and we let no defense guy gone.

But this offseason, we get Mozgov, Carroll ,Russell ,Crabbe, they will play major minute. We can only hope Kenny will help them improve on defense or we continue at the bottom..
