Is prok selling the team? Or just a minority share?

The NBA's advisory finance committe has approved Mikhail Prokhorov's lease terms for splitting the Brooklyn Nets from the Barclays Center.

Prokhorov owns both the NBA team and the operating rights to the arena. But his latest plan is to sell the team and keep control of the Barclays Center. This would be a "carve out" similar to what Comcast-Spectacor did when it sold the Philadelphia 76ers to Josh Harris.

Minority stake. In order to sell it previously, investors would have to also invest in Barclays as well making it tougher to sell.

That's what I thought but the forbes article makes it seem like he's selling the team as a whole... great reporting

Forbes is useless. They didn't even have any insider info on Les Alexander selling the Rockets. They need to stick to reporting the value of franchises.

Prok has been aiming to sell the minority stake for awhile. I think he's doing it now considering the Nets are going to get better from here on out (we assume) and there isn't exactly a lot of marquee franchises ready to sell a majority stake right now except Houston and possibly, Minnesota.

How much money do you think we could raise if the Nets RealGM board pooled our monies together to make an offer for a minority stake?

I'm thinking $53.78.

Let's do it!!
