Why would Portland do this deal?

Seems like they're trying to save money for 3 team Melo deal. Probably gets done tonight.

A pick would make this a homerun, without a pick it's a solid double. Crabbe is one of the top shooters in the NBA and this team could use more shooting. He has enough length to play the 3 and will probably overtake Carroll there at some point if his defense is up to par (and he comes back strong from the injury).

So we weren't willing to consider KCP on a 1-year deal and roll over the cap but we take on Allen Crabbe's contract for his 1-dimensional game?

I don't like this at all!

I didn't want to take Crabbe's contract, but getting rid of Nicholson helps.

We desperately needed to add talent to this team, and I still think Crabbe can be a starting caliber player in the NBA.

Clearly Marks sees something in Crabbe. I'd rather him than pay Otto Porter 100 million.

Crabbe was worse then kilpatrick defensivly and despite his high 3 point percentage doesnt really spread the floor much. his attempts arent high despite his minutes because he is so easily run off the 3 point line because he cant do much once he puts it on the floor.

Hope kenny get can more out of him, but i see him as a worse joe harris.

I recall a few posters here kept ranting about why Crabbe sucks. Interested in their thoughts! I really hope there's more to this deal.

Because crabbe is one of the leagues 5 worst contracts and this gets them under the tax.

and they got rid of crabbes. Crabbe is as bad as nicholson and makes 12 million more (maybe 14 million with the trade kicker)

crabbe is now our highest paid payer at 19-21 million depending on how the trade kicker works out

Don't think so. Should still offer more to the table than Nicholson.

without a pick this is an awful trade. Carroll, even in his old beaten down self is better then Crabbe. Joe Harris is probably better then crabbe.

Crabbe is like a worse ellington on offense and a worse kilpatrick on defense
