NBA has announced schedule travel changes.

With an expanded calendar as part of its new collective bargaining agreement, the NBA has taken the most aggressive measures to date to build rest into its schedule.

Some of the new improvements include:

• Eliminating stretches of four games in five days and 18 games in 30 days.

• Reduction of five games in seven nights to just 40 instances across (1.3 per team), down from last year when it was on the schedule 90 times (three per team).

• Reduction in number of back-to-backs to 14.9 per team, down from 16.3 per team. In all, 40 back-to-backs have been eliminated from last season.

• Reduction of single-game road trips by 17 percent.

• Reduction in single-game road trips over 2,000 miles by 67 percent; there are only 11 of them on schedule.

• Increase in weekend games from 549 to 568, much of the boost coming on Saturdays. Previously the NBA avoided Saturdays and Sunday afternoons during football season to dodge conflicts.

Teams that have seen versions of their schedules can petition the league for changes. However, the overall themes will stay intact.

One marquee road trip has been announced so far:

Nets vs Thunder - Dec 7th
Nets vs Heat Dec 9th

In Mexico City.

I hope at least one of those Mexico city games is an "away" game. Hate losing home games because of these trips.

Glad to see them bumping up the weekend action.

Bet you $20 bucks regardless of these changes, that on one of those marquee saturday night match ups on ABC, some team is going to rest all of their star players.

Because the NBA regular season is a load of crap.

I'm afraid not. Not sure what the NBA is thinking here. I understand one but 39 home games? I get this is historically our thing to do these global trips but that's robbing fans of marquee games. It shouldn't count as both homes games.

The NBA loves crapping on the Nets, maybe because we don't sell as much home tickets as HEAT or Thunder.

Yeah we heard about this a while back, although initial reports were San Antonio instead of Miami. Very strange that Brooklyn is counting both as home games, although I'm guessing that means they get to keep a significant part of the revenue from Mexico, which beats a mid-week regular season game. What really sucks is that means we won't see OKC at Barclays this year. That would have been a game I would have gone to.

I'm surprised Miami didn't beg to have that game count as one of their home games... Heat fans are awful in terms of how late they arrive to and how early they leave games.

I understand it's South Beach and there are other things to do, but damn bruh.

Nah, the Nets have historically been the first few teams to take trips to China, London, etc. This is a great opportunity for the franchise to gain a new population of fans in Mexico but its just simply dumb to have an inter-conference game in Mexico.

I'm more pissed that we don't get to see Westbrook and George at Barclays this year, what a joke.

Yeah, not sure why the Nets didn't push back on that one. OKC vs. BKN would have been easily a sell out game at Barclays.

Lol I guess you don't see much Nets games bro, we show up in the 2nd quarter. Remember that playoff series against the Hawks? All the reporters were criticizing us because the arena was half empty at tip off.

How do you guys go about getting home tickets. I used to wait until the day they went on sale and go to the box office, but that was a while ago....Any tips?

That's because no one wanted to see an unmotivated D-Will led Nets team.

They also need to start tip off at 8pm imo. I cannot fathom traveling to Barclays on a weeknight and making it on time unless I leave work early

The Nets have been banned from Christmas games because every time the NBA featured them the team got blown off the floor because their highest paid players couldn't be bothered to play hard on a holiday afternoon. We may never play on Christmas Day again until the next decade begins.

Thinking about The Nets playing on Christmas is triggering me right now. Those dudes literally didn't give a good god damn and showed up just to collect a six figure pay day and roll back to sleep. No kind of pride or shame.

I'm a STH, but unless you're looking for high profile matchups like against the cavs or warriors, you should be able to get decent seats on Stubhub for good prices.
