Forget the shooting. His length and athleticism, especially his quickness, is a lot better. Now add in the shooting and it's easy to see what the Nets saw in the first place. He has prime-Korver potential.
Did he get overpaid? In all likelihood yes. He is probably not $75M better than Harris. But Portland absorbing 25% of that along with Nicholson makes it much better to get him a year later than expected.
Despite a great shooting night in his first preseason action I still stand by that there is no much that seperates him from joe harris. I can see why those he havent seen much of crabbe would feel otherwised based on last night. but i saw large portions/full games of about 30-40 games for the blazers last year, specifically to watch crabbe.
If he can maintain 42-45% from three on increased volume, that will go a long way. We will have to see on that. he looked engaged on D, we will need to see if that continues over 25+ minutes 82 games and not vs. the knicks in preseason.
Harris shot the ball pretty well this preseason himself.
I dont think anyone can say Crabbe is worth 17 million more then harris. but thats not my point. i dont think he is worth twice what harris makes let alone 10 times.
That said, im not goign to flood the game threads or here with that as my issue is not with crabbe it is with marks. i love crabbe as a fit on this team. i just dont like him being our highest paid player who is being paid like an all star and eating up a huge chunk of our cap space to be here. and i also felt like we should have gotten a first rounder for taking that contract off of portlans hands and bailing them out like we did.
but im all in on supporting crabbe while he is here.
