Michael Smith also called Brook Lopez a bum a few years ago. You can't take half of what he says seriously because he'll act like he never said it 6 months later. I'm glad he and Jemele are doing their thing but watch how fast he'll hop on this train when it starts to really take off.

Here's something to think about. The NBA's cap numbers are lower than expected so they won't have room to sign multiple max contracts. Russell Westbrook just resigned with OKC. If Russell/George/Anthony put up a monster season, it would be highly unlikely that George leaves a winning team to play for the Lakers, nevermind the fact that the Lakers won't be able to afford signing both him and Lebron to 30+ mil contracts. Lebron may not go there especially with how loaded they are as a team(if Thomas is healthy that team will be a handful) in Cleveland.

If the Lakers fail to lure big time free agents, and Russell goes on to elevate his game, this could be regarded as a horrific trade for the Lakers. Time will tell.

Booker/RHJ combo is one that we should definitely use at times.

I'd love to see this line up at times for defense: Booker/RHJ/Carroll/LeVert/Lin. swarm and switch on everything. active hands and aggressive d at all 5 spots. especially if we have a lead.

Agreed. This lineup could run as well, because it can not only defend but also defensive rebound. The only thing it doesn't have is good rim protection, but the guards are big, quick, and athletic enough to help out inside.

I agree! KA is going to have so many options.

Just 26 1/2 hours now to tip off at MSG.

Kenny is raving about Russell after practice today.

Read on Twitter

Russell has said plenty, but now, he’s like a rising boxing contender fresh off an eight-week training camp before his world title shot: He’s done with words, and is ready for combat.

“I don’t really wanna talk about it honestly,” he said when asked what he expects people to be saying about the Nets a few weeks out. “I just wanna show we can play. I don’t wanna say something that’ll come back to bite me. I’ve learned that throughout the years. I just want to show my actions.”

“I think he did a really good job in camp. He’s in it,” Atkinson remarked of the dynamic former Laker. “Offensively he fits into the style of play. I’m really impressed with the pace that he’s playing with on the offensive end.

“His defense, especially on the ball has been pretty good. (There is) off the ball stuff he’s still got to clean up. He relaxes sometimes – still working on that. Pleasantly surprised so far overall, especially his defense, it’s been pretty good. Just got to keep on him about it.”

“He’s got a really good basketball I.Q. and he knows where to be,” he continued. “It’s just, when we were 21, we kind of drift. In this league, it’s just being able to do it for more possessions – generally I feel a push to prove something to show people he’s a pretty darn good player.”

These quotes are fantastic. Exactly what we would want to hear. GOOO D'Angelo and Kenny!!! So psyched to see how much of a "pretty darn good player" Kenny can turn D'Angelo into.

The line up would be great for holding down leads also because Carroll/LeVert/Lin can all hit threes, LeVert and Lin also can create off of the dribble. The passing lanes would be a danger zone for the opponents because of how LeVert and RHJ get their hands on passes. Both Booker and RHJ can rebound effectively and push the ball to initiate a fast break.

Kenny has some decent tools to work with here. can we stay healthy, and can the young guys take a big step up? that's the issue.
