If there is one thing, I think the injury takes the edge off of winning. Let's see some development tonight.

To me, Crabbe starting would signify that Kenny still thinks this team could win some games. LeVert starting means they want to keep the focus on development and running a lineup that includes 2 ball handlers.

Crabbe's development is probably more important than LeVert. And that's not downplaying LeVerts importance at all. Weve invested a lot of money into Crabbe. He also has more years of NBA experience which means he's theoretically closer to his ceiling. There's no time to take his development slow like we can with LeVert. If he's gonna become our Klay Thompson, he needs to start flashing that potential in starter minutes asap.

I won't get to see most of the game tonight. But I'll see the beginning. My guess is Rondae and maybe DLo speak before the game in welcoming the fans to the new season (last season it was Lin and Brook Lopez).
Tonight, bring the D. Even if it is a loss, bring the D. And no bad 3Qs. Gotta fix that. And please, team, no more injuries. Please.

Brooklyn is my hometown so always wish you guys the best! I wouldn't worry too much in regards to Lins impact, you guys are actually pretty deep with players that actually have the potential to break out (LeVert specifically).
It's looking like Gordon is out tonight btw, regardless should be a good game!
Oh and I've already predicted LeVert is going for a career high if Ross has to guard him

Curious to see how the team responds tonight. Will they be able to carry over some of that pre-season swag, or will they be deflated after what happened last game. Either way, defense has to be better.

This is a better matchup for Mozgov which is important only because I think he can help set the tone defensively. A few hard fouls here a block there and at least the other team will have some second thoughts about recklessly attacking the paint...

Kenny killed us with the small-ball lineup last game. I think the main reason we lost was his lack of on-the-fly adjustments... also one of his main weakness as a coach IMO. Clearly Turner was too athletic/fast/skilled to be handled my Moz and too big to be handled by Booker/Acy but Kenny insisted and that's the result.
I understand the rook(Allen) is too raw but he is currently the only one equipped to even have a slight chance at handling these athletic/skilled bigs like KAT/Embiid/Turner types. I hope it doesn't take an eternity for the coaching staff to realize this.
I felt sick to my stomach seeing Lin's reaction to his season-ending injury and I wish him a speedy recovery. A positive the can come out is that now it feels like we have less pressure to win and are back to being a "development first" team. Guys like IW, Levert, Crabbe, Dinwiddie and Joe Harris will definitely see more PT also which is good to figure who is worth keeping on the roster long-term.
I'm curious to see who gets the nod as Lin's replacement in the starting lineup tonight. I bet it's between Crabbe/Levert.

That Lin's injury is good for development of young players, only works if the young guys are able to maintain KA"s system with Lin gone. SImply having more PT does no good, and could hurt, if they fall into bad habits.
I'm pulling for them, and think they will figure this out because the team has a lot of promising players, but I think it's far from being a win for player development. Let's at least see some good play before we are ready to grade Lin's being out for the season as being a favorable thing for player development or anything else. Seems like the least that Lin deserves.

I don't know if I totally agree with the criticism of Kenny's rotation. Sure, them having a big is rough on the defense, but you can punish them on offense. That's the whole premise of small ball.

Defense is more important than offense. You can be a great offensive team but if your D is trash you aren't going to go far.
I think our offense is fine but defense needs a lot of tuning.

Yeah, I hear that. But Kenny did adjust right, it is just not the adjustment that folks want, which is to go big. Kenny actually went small to counter (one line-up I remember was RHJ and Booker at 4 and 5), and I wonder if we could've pulled it off if Jeremy didn't get injured. We were in the game the whole time.

It was the first game and really can't fault KA for not putting Allen in. Allen will get minutes, but we expected better D from the vets that we had and were let down. If they do it again/continue to, change will come and maybe even tonight.
Also, I think people are underestimating how bad Mozgov is, but we are in theory stuck with him for at least two more years if not the full 3. Our main hope at C is JA. But, I would also be content waiving Zeller and taking a flier on a young defensive big.
