But I just feel there isn't enough discussion from our very knowledgable fans on the issue of a big. Surely there is 6'10 + player somewhere on the planet that can protect the rim for us? lol

Question - if a team trades us a player for the DPE, for example Portland trades Ed Davis, do they get a trade exception back? Is there any incentive for the other team other than saving money?

I agree those are circumstances in which Nets would likely use DPE if they decide to go that route
I also think Nets would likely send a player out in the trade -- to open up a roster spot.
In answer to your question, i assume the other team would also get cap space relief but am not sure.
Ed Davis would be such a super candidate for this as he is expiring contract and would be a great fit but his salary is just beyond reach. $6.1 m is max amount of Nets DPE for Lin and the DPE cannot be combined with any other exceptions or cap space iirc.

Why do you say that like rich did something wrong Lol. He locked a thread that was dedicated to a player who ultimately signed with another team. Why keep it open?

It doesn't make sense right? I mean they lost THEIR STARTING POINT GUARD but 1+1 doesn't equal 2 in your world.
If Marks does his thing they'll get an upgrade at a couple of positions.

This is why I trust Marks as our GM and not you. Whitehead,Russell, Dinwiddie and LeVert all capable of bringing the ball up. Not so much Whitehead. But he can help when reactivated. Our glaring weakness is not Point Guard!! It's where a 19 year old kid is showing the only sign of rim protection in his 15 mins per. But no your right tell me how need a another point guard.![]()

not sure, but if the Nets currently posting the best offense in the league is any indication, the team seems to be compensating for their loss quite well - potentially due to their depth at the guard position

PG was our deepest position. I mean most people dont have a former #2 overall pick potential stud they can slide to PG. dinwiddie is a great backup and whitehead as third string is more then adequate
last year our PG rotation was an oft-injured Lin, dinwiddie and a rookie whitehead
now its a better, healthier player in russell, and dinwiddie and whitehead with more experience
IW is better at shooting guard he doesn't have the decision making to run a team that's not a knock on him."I feel like when you're playing shooting guard, you've got to score the ball or make plays for your teammates," Russell said. "Playing the point guard, it's harder to do that, be aggressive, try to score the ball every time, because you've got to make at least one pass. But figuring it out, whatever position I'm in, I'm going to try to make the best of it."
