ALLEN CRABBE RETURNS

Atkinson spoke at length with Russell and Spencer Dinwiddie, and likes the idea of playing the point guards together and using Isaiah Whitehead as a backup.

”I like it. I liked them together. Isaiah was really good the other night,” Atkinson said. “Out of our whole group, he was probably our best one. He really did a good job. So that’s something I’ve thought about. He earned himself some credibility. Really good job.

“You need that third point guard to get those guys together a little more. … But I do like Spencer and D’Angelo together. I like having two pick-and-roll ball-handlers. That’s what I missed about Jeremy, that was cool that we could go either side. I like it, if they could be a solution.”

“For us, he’s a starter. In the beginning we had him in and out because he was on a minutes restriction. Now we popped him into the starting lineup. He’s got to be able to be an elite starter in this league. That should be his goal,” coach Kenny Atkinson said. “He’s trying to get his rhythm, and [we’re] challenging him to be more consistent. … But [he’s] doing great. We love him.”

It’s a product of us not being in sync. … We’ve tried small-ball more than I’d like. I don’t think that’s conducive to take a screener off the floor. He needs screens to get open,” Atkinson said. “He needs a team to function for him to be efficient. That’s on me. That’s on our offense functioning well. When we function well he gets 20, 25 points.

“Listen, I’m not making excuses for him. He still hasn’t caught his full rhythm yet. It’s going to get there … and it’s on him a little, too. In Portland you could be [hot] one or two out of every five nights. Now with us, we need it every night. You can take once in a while that maybe you don’t have it. But we just need more consistency from him.”

No hiding spots for Russell tonight. Might be the toughest backcourt to guard one on one.

“I’ll take the blame for the inconsistency,” Crabbe said. “That’s on me. It’s not any inconsistency with my teammates or not learning how to play with them. I feel like I’ve had enough time. It’s just me.”

RHJ being questionable is good.

I really wouldn't look into the lack of Allen news. They did the same thing last year with Lin. They're keeping him out for caution because there's no sense in making him play in games that won't matter in the long run.

Tought to win tonight if we dont have booker and RHJ. i like that whitehead might get more burn... we could use some toughness/defense out there.

Tough back court, but you never know. I like Crabbe putting his performance on himself. Din and Russell need to play more together to develop chemistry.

Start Zeller over Mozgoz please Kenny.

Curious to see if Crabbe/Russel show up for a good game.

Yep but there's also the other half court 8-)

I hope to see Whitehead. Kilpatrick is very useless.

We need an upset here.

-Russell needs to take care of the ball and let the game to come him. That's what leads to games where he's efficient. Clean up those TOs. No hiding on defense tonight as MGrand said, he needs to compete and be aware of what is happening off the ball.

-We need Booker and RHJ. No chance without them.

-Dinwiddie needs to get back into the groove. He's been quiet as of late.

-LeVert needs to focus on aggressive D and attacking the rim. Nothing else.

-Lets get Whitehead into the game early and get him going. i liked what i saw from him last game.

-Allen Crabbe needs to step up.

should we play an over/under game on how much Nurkic scores tonight? :noway:

Indeed. Lilliard/McCollum can be had as well.

Random note: we may have to keep our guys away from Durant. Slow starts from Levert and Kilpatrick after working with him this summer, right? SMH. Warriors know we're coming for their head so they tried to sabotage us.

Nurkic is playing right? He's the type of guy that could drop 30 on us. I'm less worried about their back court now :(

Let's set the over/under game at 30 for Nurkic's points tonight

I say Nurkic drops 27.

hope dlo and crabbe are hyped to play against lilliard and mccollum. i'd like to see dlo have 3 or less TOs tonight. Take better care of the b-ball, make crispier passes and take smarter shots. Hope dlo rediscovers his 3 pt range. It's been abysmal. And mogzgov better D up on their big man. Orelse we'll be in for a long night.
