What mined materials have you heard that the USA particularly needs from Russia?

IIRC China's mining is vastly more vital to tech manufacturing, for example in rare earth metals.

My point is still that the USA economically disengaging from Russia is pretty much no sweat.

I think also worth mentioning is that their set of strategies works by turning us against each other.

Less economically-fair wages, less spending power, and less consumer protections for all us regular people because it's being sucked in to the pockets of the sheltered wealthy? Then quite naturally-- the more us individuals tend to beef with each other over almost anything... the pettiest of sh-t, in effect.

Then the 'moral superiors' can point to us squabbling with each other and declare that WE are the root of the problem.

This is at the heart of politicians pushing their racially charged and bigoted culture war politics: it keeps the rubes hatred aimed at minorities, gays and liberals while they ignore the fact that the corporate oligarchy is turning the USA into a 3rd world country.

The economy is supposedly "good" right now....but for whom? Food and gas prices are skyrocketing. Rents are out of control, an entire generation of Americans are locked out of the housing market.

This whole thing stinks.

its poor peoples fault. they get a free ride while we have to spend our hard earned money on rising prices because they are freeloaders...

or at least, that is what they want us to believe right.

but gas prices go up?! hell no we cant have that. cant have high gas prices. we need subsidies for these poor oil companies so they can afford to give us gas at a reasonable price. Poor and diseased and homeless americans have been stealing our tax dollars for too long! no no no, the poor oil companies need those tax dollars to offset their loses so we can get cheap gas to fill up our giant trucks and SUVs...

no one in oil stands to profit, so everything we tell you around need tax dollars and subsidies for gas is unbiased.

Moderate and Conservative Dems are the main ones who have obstructed Biden's agenda and will be the reason why Democrats will get wiped out in November.

They can't blame progressives this time. AOC wanted to get the Build Back Better Act passed before the Infrastructure bill because she knew Manchin would tank the legislation in the Senate.

You can't go around campaigning on helping people and then not delivering tangible results to your voters. Especially with inflation sky high and Americans getting price gouged at the pump.

Combined that with senators having no term limit and you basically have billionaires who can buy the law/politicians for 40-50 years with no reprecautious and do it without the public even knowing who the lobbyists are. And now, as pork in cybersecurity bills they are trying to slide in that lobbyists can not be prosecuted for bribary and senators/congress are immune to criminal charges for taking money from a lobby in bad faith.

Centuries-late reply, but AOC is a National Treasure, and altho witty & sharp-tongued as hell in tone, she usually doesn't pipe up unless she's 99% sure of things. Talk about REFRESHING.

Whereas, the modern-Republican playbook has pretty much devolved to pure projection upon the Dems about whatever debaucheries and traitorous actions right-wingers are themselves committing. And yet, the political limbo bar has dipped so incredibly low anymore, that all you really need to do at this point is to appeal to a group of hateful, ignorant, single-issue extremists in order to win too many elections.
