Interest in Nets Board Top 25 Player Rankings?

Hey guys,

VC4P reminded me that we usually run our board's top 25 player rankings during the summer but we haven't done it yet. Would you guys be interested in doing this again?

For the uninitiated, each voting round takes 1.5-2 days to complete (unless a player is a clear cut winner early on), which means this will go on for about 40-50 days and take us right into the beginning of the regular season.

Post "I'm in" (or make some other snazzy remark) to let me/us know whether you'd like to participate. I want to make sure enough people are interested and that things won't die down too quickly.

For the uninitiated, here are the basic rules:

You select one out of the 5 available nominees/players in each round and write in a player you'd like to be included in the next round.
Whichever player receives the most votes for that round wins and whichever player receives the most write-in nominations will be included in the following rounds list of nominees you can vote for. (Feel free to discuss and defend your pick and nominee. In the event of tie,. we actually need people to change their vote, so being skilled in rhetoric and debate will come in handy.)

If we end up doing this, I'll post more detailed rules in the opening voting thread.

Would you take input from a bulls fan? I was just looking to see if you butler tread going and i thought this sounded like fun. I am older so I have been around to see to guys like DR J, Paultz, Melchioni, petrovic, coleman play. Also are there any guidelines on longevity versus a couple of good years for example buck williams a three time all star for the nets with a bunch rebound records vs a rick barry who had two amazing seasons or just my own opinion as to which i would rather have. I understand if you don't want a bull fan voting but I thought i would offer my two cents worth. Have fun!

Visitors are welcome! Over the years, we've had several notable non-Nets board posters contribute and they have been great additions.

Since the votes of interest trickled in slowly over the weeks, I just assumed that we weren't really too jazzed about doing this.

This is officially on pause.

We can't run this without 1) enough people participating and 2) everyone knowing when rounds open and close.

Very few people expressed interest in participating when the initial post was made and it wasn't until a few weeks later that some people added that they were in.

It's best to make an official sign-up sheet with a deadline for signing up. If we don't have at least 6 posters (excluding myself) who are willing to participate, it doesn't make sense to do at this time.
