They were also awful at recognizing it and attacking it. They did none of the action (playing through the middle, setting middle screen on our center) that Charlotte, Miami killed us on. They also shot like butt.

During their hot streak they were shooting in the mid 30s with a few games in 40s and even 50s from downtown.

They shot 23% vs us.

That helps a lot in making a defense look good.

The zone works until the other team starts hitting their shots from deep.

That bad shooting wasn't no fluke though. Atkinson had the correct scheme on what to do against them. Which you have to give all the credit to Kurucs. Keeping Blake Uncomfortable and frustrating an emotional player who is their main playmaker was the key to this victory. This zone look was just the right call at that situation. Kenny also made the a small adjustment that turned out to be in a big way by putting the PG underneath and kurucs at the perimeter to keep the passing lanes honest.

Rodi was definitely a catalyst, but they missed open threes, some of which were corner threes that they simply missed.

Rodi being up top isn't a new wrinkle either. We've seen him there (and with plenty of success) over the course of the season.

Not to take any credit, because it worked. But this was likely a closer game had they knock down their open shots.

We probably still win (if not still a blowout) because our energy was better than theirs. But keep in mind this was a close game before Rodi (and Spencer) gave us a boost and extended the lead before the half.

And they couldn't shoot their way back in it.

Again, not taking credit but this is how today's game is now. You just typically don't win games shooting 20% from downtown anymore, especially not if the other team was hitting theirs at a decent rate and also out hustling and outplaying you.

We've been on the other side too when teams packed it in and we took good open shots from downtown...we just couldn't hit it and ended up getting blown out.
