In 1996, after 8 straight losing seasons and coming off a then NFL record worst 1-15 season the NY Jets higher Bill Parcells as head coach. The Jets, and Parcells (having come from new englad) had taken beating in the media all year. The jets were the punchline to every joke. But the laughing would soon stop, as the just would surprise everyone and finish the year with its first winning season in a decade going 9-7. Parcells, in the season ending press conference opened withL

"You can't call them losers anymore"

And today, sitting at 41-40 and guaranteeing we finish at or above .500, you can NOT call the Nets losers anymore.

Without even seeing what happens in the playoffs, This will go down as one of my 3 favorite Nets season of all time (1997-98 and the first kidd finals run being the others).

This team has earned every bit of those 41 wins. like the Jets, the Nets were the butt of every joke and having to hear about the celtics trade over and over and over. Marks and Kenny built an elite culture of hard work and "team" here. And when the pressure to win came they didnt deter and stuck to development and showing love and confidence for their guys.

Russell has gotten more hate then any young player i can remeber in a long time. fans and media all over him at every turn. showed maturity beyond what anyone could expect. shouldered this team for months when levert was down and turned himself into an all-star and franchise player.

Harris, Dinwiddie, Levert, Allen and even older guys like Carroll all worked to improe... most drastically. Harris has become the leagues best 3-pint shooter outside golden state. Kurucs has become a rotation player on a playoff team in year 1 as a euro rookie who logged under 50 minutes last season.

These guys deserve all the credit in the world.

Congrats! As a Magic fan it was tough being in the same race as the Nets because you guys had one of the most likable teams in the East. I'm glad both our teams were able to make the playoffs

Prok, it's time to funnel that positive energy and let go of your demons.

Made the playoffs and potentially can get the 6th seed. And this wasn't supposed to happen... maybe not even for a few more years!

The fact the turnaround happened this quick should remind all of us that the new regime is here and Billy can't hurt us anymore.

Happy day for Nets fans. Not even wanting to get into offseason acquisitions talk at this point, I just want to see these guys compete against whoever we draw and stay healthy!!

Also, in terms of Most Improved Team, the Nets will finish either clear third or tied for third, not far back from the top two finishers.

I've never heard anyone ever say this

things are really starting to change for the better

and hell yes the Nets are fun as hell to watch, and that's not just coming from us Net fans a lot of other fans are saying the same. The Nets play a fun style of basketball.
