Wow man, with Claxton healthy and hitting his stride, DeAndre Jordan has all but disappeared. :o

They said it on the broadcast, but this is why the Nets were willing to part with Jarrett Allen in the Harden deal.

They didn't want to part with Allen, but they knew what they had in Nic Claxton before we did.

Now the only question is, whose better, Claxton or Allen?

I have to go with Claxton, especially knowing he hasn't even peaked yet.

Well, good news is that Nic is back with the team. I pray he recovers well.

Bad news is that Nic has started cryptic posting on Instagram. I can't link gud, so someone will need to help me, I saw one that said, "ion feel nothin" in front of his Brooklyn jersey. There's always a level of plausible deniability in vague phrases, but it seems clear that Claxton feels his time is limited here.

Aldridge and Griffin seem most comfortable in lineups where they are the only big (sans KD) on the floor. Bruce and DeAndre have outshone Nic as pick&roll partners for Harden. We've already drafted a replacement developmental C. There's not a ton of oxygen in the room left for him on this team, despite his immense potential.

What are your thoughts? Is a trade imminent? Am I reading too much into the tea leaves? Feel free to poke holes in my theories, and tell me yours!

I'm not buying into the illness story. Not saying he was not sick but I think there was more to it than that. There have been rumors out there that he was not working on his game or conditioning over the summer. Believe me, I get that he is young guy and wants to go out and have a good time, but to show up out of shape and look gassed after 10 minutes is really inexcusable. it is also reckless is a contract year.

They are keeping something hush hush. It was reported by Brian Lewis that he was sent to Long Island. Yet nobody mentioned it. He may have been sent there to work out while we were on this road trip. Was that Sean Marks way of saying "wake up' or strike one?

What it boils down to IMO......This is profession that demands commitment. I don't think it is unreasonable to say that Nic is not giving it his all.

It's not reasonable. You're making uninformed assumptions. There are plenty of laung haul illnesses that could affect his ability and conditioning. For example, Brook Lopez once missed a bunch of time with Mono early in his career.

You could be right and he lacks commitment. But you could be wrong and he has a legit illness.

Yeah i dont mind fake illness... especially in the current climate, where you just dont want the bad juju of that. I think he is legit sick, and LMA/Blake playing great makes no rush to bring him back.

The worst thing that happened to Claxton is the new rules made it so you dont need to switch 1-5 pick and rolls anymore. you can play drop coverage again. Claxtons biggest value is switch defender as a center.

I would not make ANY trades right now. we are in 1st place, trending well, and with older guys who you never know who may go down save those trade assets for when you really need them.

that said, id we did trade claxton, id look to add a 3rd/4th string PG type, a tallker rim rolling big with less defense, and a 2nd.

something like maybe

Ish + Plumlee
Augistin + Theis
Wannamaker + Bitdatze
Hart + hayes

we would need some salary filler, so may need to be 2 trades where we use the dinwddie TPE + a pick in one deal and then do clax for the other guy

Wow, this was a serious illness for Nic. I'm glad he's on the mend, it sounds like it'll be December before we see him in a Brooklyn game.

this is weird. he was asked multiple times what it was and he flat out wouldnt say. all we know is non covid. team doesnt think anything will linger. not going to speculate, but certainly makes you curious what the deal was.

That would explain it....I don't get it though, why would the team make a mountain out of a molehill with all the hush hush?

It's not the team's place to disclose private medical information about a player.
