He’ll fit right in as the best rebounder in the team replacing Ed. On top of that, he’s a big body and is still 20 pounds heavier than Jafro (in spite of Jarrett’s weight gain). He’s the exact big we need in defending Embiid, Drummond, etc.

The more I look at it, the more I believe Jordan will be starting. He's one of the best rebounders in the league, one of Allen's weakness. He's a great passer for a center which will help our offense tremendously, Allen is not a good passer. There are some big centers in the league that we will overpower Allen too easy... Gasol, Embiid, Horford, Drummond, Ayton, Kanter, Jonas Val, Lopez bros, Nurkic etc...

He's a vet that knows some tricks and he's not a liability at the free throw line anymore, won't be surprised if he start banging 3s now. The one thing Allen have over Jordan now is speed and mobility, we can pick up the pace and go more fast pace with Allen on the floor. It doesn't really matter who starts or not because I'm sure they'll end up having the same minutes averaged by the end of the season, it's just my opinion on what I see right now.

Can definitely see Jordan starting, almost expecting it. He'll be spelled early and often though and end of game scenarios will be matchup based.

Also it may be better for Allen to play against backups - gotta think he will make an even bigger impact on the floor in those situations, though obviously we shouldn't be looking to shelter him and not play him against better players too.

I also think that Jordan probably starts. Allen has to get stronger and play tougher. It's no shame in it, he'll still play the same minutes anyway.

And that's the thing, it's not shameful or anything, he's just young and skinny and even though he might be a hair better than Jordan, he's not significantly so imo.

Exactly, as others have mentioned, neither one of them is getting frozen out of the rotation or anything crazy. They'll get nearly identical MPG, but I do think that DJ will get most starts. He has been very durable with big PT for a youngster, but advanced metrics suggests he regresses under a larger workload. Keep them both fresh this way, with Nic ready to pick up slack should either one suffer an injury.

They won't play together unless we're facing MIL or PHI's big lineup, but it's nice to know we have the size to match up with them.

I'd have had no issue if we ended up with Horford and in that case he definitely would have started over Allen. Horford's game would have allowed them to play on the floor together too, but they wouldn't have both started - so to me it's a good competition and let the best man win. I'm glad we'll have a shot blocking presence on the floor anchoring the D over entire games.

A sample size of even 10 games, let alone just one, of highlights does not qualify or constitute an objective analysis.

I’m not saying DJ will definitely be bad. But I do think we need to be honest and accept the realities of his decline. A revival to LAC playing ability is a hope, and far from a guarantee.

Nobody is expecting LAC version of Jordan. I think if that does happen it would be a testament to the performance and medical team but the Dallas and NY version is still better and more athletic than Ed Davis, though.

If Claxton impresses, Jordan probably rests a lot of regular season games too but come playoff time. He’s perfect fit to go at Embiid in a half court setting.

Not sure if I love the 4 years part, but I suppose that's the price you pay for getting KD. I'm not sure who's going to be starting, him or Allen, or if that even matters now. All I know is I want DJ to be playing smart basketball, improve his passing, and get in the best shape he can for the 10 million pick and role plays he'll be running with Kyrie, Caris, and Spence.

If we signed LeBron, we’d have to give out atleast two or three contracts to ‘his’ guys. Even replace a coach for ‘his’ guy. Kyrie and KD asking to add DJ shouldn’t hurt us remotely as much.

Is Jordan actually good anymore? Honestly haven't watched him since the Clippers.

I asked Jarrett Allen if it matters to him if he starts or comes off the bench. He replied, "You know, a little bit. I mean, obviously, it matters a little bit. Everybody wants to start, but in this case, it doesn’t matter to me. F--- it, yeah, I want to start. F--- it (laughs)."

What I care about is seeing Big Jay improving and of corse Claxton too. Practicing with DJ should help his game.

Same thing with KD and Rodi

I'm glad Allen wants to start. But he'll need to earn it. Jordan isn't going to come in here and go easy on him.

Best thing that could happen from the Jordan signing is him motivating Allen to the next level of toughness. I think he could make a major 3rd year leap with DJ behind him.

I remember a knock on the fro coming in from the draft was that he probably doesn't care enough/how much drive does he have/does he love basketball.

Those were clearly wrong and quotes like this just reaffirms that. He's humble but works hard and wants to get better.

unless allen is hurt, there is 0% chance Jordan starts. allen is 3 times the player. dont get me wrong, dandre fits ths system and fills a need but this is no longer prime clippers deandre

allen not starting would mean he had an enormous regression in the offseason, and injury, or major off-court issues.

He is a better player then jordan. people here need to realize that us getting beat by embiid is irrelevant right now heading into this season. people also need to realize we won 50% or more of the games an oppising big scored 20+ against us and 70% of the games they scored 30+

the nets dont care if post players go off, the view that as a win if teams are going to the post heavily because in the long run we will be more efficient even if they ahve a mismatch

but also, jordan while a great back up is a shell of what he was
