We took their sh*t for years, and yet these players sign with us, and they feel obliged to give warnings or talk smack already?

The players CHOSE the Nets. That needs to sink in. Not traded, but signed with us.

Competency, intelligence, and culture building go a long way. I still can't fathom why Knicks fans don't understand this.

And yes, the heat is coming in 2019. I can't wait.

Because this thread was created 3 days ago and I'm like the 5th poster. That's why us Knicks fans dont understand. Truth is you guys have it good. Should Durant not work out it wont be a sign of your incompetence, there will be no stories of you being a mess. Theyll just stop discussing it. In fact they arent really discussing it now are they. Are these moves more of a Nets gain or a Knicks loss? So my point is nothing has changed in terms of what you really want. Nets fans need attention. They want to be talked about. Relevancy. Yet in every post they bring up the Knicks. Success or failure is inconsequential to this point.

You want attention? Maybe the media shouldve spent just as much time on the failed Deron William's trade as they did ruining the mood around the Carmelo trade. Maybe they could spend more time talking about how the Nets traded the farm for Pierce and KG. What about every crappy year the Nets have had prior to one sole 40win season.

None of that is a sign of Netsdysfunction. Its greatly managed failure apparently. The Knicks won 52 games. There were no grand announcements of smart management. They said we should rebuild, we do and the talk is about why anyone would wanna come to a 17 win team. So my point is it's about spin and perspective. Nets in all honesty have it made. Each move gets to be kept quiet, in the shadows. You could occupy every ring on the Tank to Title ladder and have it be spun positively. The media gives you this lovable underdog persona. You have it made.

Tomorrow the Nets could sign Anthony Bennett and watch it be spun as some critically ingenious move

Yes, we continue to bring up the Knicks as they spent the last two years downplaying anything Nets related.

Summer 2018: KP + KD/Kyrie is happening next summer.

Fall 2018: KD, KP, Kyrie, draft pick is a lock.

February 2019: Zion, KD, Kyrie is a lock to NY! They wouldn’t sign with the no attendance Nets!

March 2019: RJ Barrett, KD, Kyrie/Kemba is a lock! They won’t sign with the irrelevant Nets!

Summer 2019: Julius Randle is better than signing KD, we didn’t want Kyrie anyways.

Yet, none of them were ever that interested in the Knicks. KD went as far as forcing the Warriors to give up a draft pick for the Nets and taking a LeBron in Miami-esque pay cut to recruit DeAndre Jordan who was traded to NY to recruit KD to the Knicks... The Knicks wrote a statement to basically apologize for failing in FA an hour after Durant committed to Brooklyn.

I think Knick fans should worry about themselves right now. This isn’t the first time we’ve been relevant and it certainly won’t be the last.

It seems like Knick fans can’t take the same heat they love to dish out. Isn’t there an entire thread dedicated to why KD chose the Nets over there?

Oh PLEASE. 80% of the offseason thread discussion on the Knicks forum has been about the Nets. There's a reason I made this thread, it's because I know you all are over there talking **** about us.

You sound bitter and upset that the Nets aren't treated like a **** show in the media while the Knicks get massacred. I've got news for you: it's because your team is a complete **** show and no one wants to play for James Dolan.

Actually I didnt know that. Anyway before I read the other replies I'll just admit this. I did respect what the Nets have done even before the Kyrie and KD signings. You guys put together a very respectable young team. And like the OP implied. Kyrie alone should be enough to get you to the next level. Now idk if that's into the 2nd round, past the 2nd round. I cant predict just yet but Kyrie is simply a better player than Russell so you should be fine.

My post was more about the part how Knicks fans dont understand. What dont we understand? When the Nets wanna tank the stories are about how sweet it is to tank. When they wanna be a low entry playoff team the stories are about a move in the right direction. And so on and so forth up the line.

You're in NY but you dont really get the true ire of the NY media. Everything is all feel good. And when it's not feel good the worst thing that happens is you get ignored for a while. That gives you huge advantages of secrecy and........none of the bull.

Can't argue that. There's an advantage to not worrying about the media running players out of town.

Perspective from a neutral fan: the Clippers were a laughingstock in the media for decades like the Knicks are now, until we got a new owner who hired competent basketball people to run the front office. Then we finally started getting some positive press.

The media isn't trashing the Knicks for no reason. Dolan is a bad owner and the on-court product has been mismanaged for the better part of the last 20 years. That all adds up and causes people to take a skeptical view of the organization.

If the Knicks ever get a new owner and hire their equivalent of Jerry West or Sean Marks, the positive headlines will come - and so will major free agents.

I don’t want the attention. I want everyone to talk like these signings don’t mean anything. Gives motivation to the players.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
