Long Island Nets get Anthony Brown for Tahjere McCall

Anthony Brown, a 6’7” small forward who’s become a bit of a G League journeyman, has landed in Long Island.

The Long Island Nets acquired the returning player rights to Anthony Brown on Friday from the College Park Skyhawks in exchange for the same rights to Tahjere McCall, the 6’5” do-it-all swingman who had a short stay with Brooklyn as well last season. McCall had played with the Hawks in summer league.

Brown had been traded earlier in the day by the Lakeland Magic to College Park, the Hawks affiliate. Brown, in a way, becomes the first player acquired by the Nets organization that Joe Tsai formally took over Tuesday.

The Nets had interest in the now 26-year-old Brown going back to the 2015 NBA Draft, when he was a senior at Stanford. Brown earned PAC-12 Most Improved Player honors during his junior season with the Cardinals. He was taken at No. 34 by the Lakers that June.

Tahjere McCall after bieng traded to the Hawks g league affiliate was signed to the big club.

The Atlanta Hawks have signed guard Tahjere McCall.

Most recently, McCall played on the Hawks’ Las Vegas Summer League team, starting four games and averaging 11.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals in 31.0 minutes (.455 FG%, .500 3FG%, .714 FT%).

He appeared in one game last season with the Brooklyn Nets, tallying four points and one rebound in eight minutes (2-3 FGs). McCall spent the last two years with the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League, and last season, in 33 games (19 starts), averaged 11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 26.1 minutes (.498 FG%, .759 FT%).
