I'M SO THANKFUL TO HAVE A NEW GAME TO TALK ABOUT!!!
This is going to be a good test for us. Memphis is deep and athletic, though they are in a transitional phase. These may not necessarily be the defensive assignment, but let's go position by position:
ALLEN VS VALANCIUNAS - let me begin by saying, I love the qualities that Jarrett Allen brings to our team. He is a tireless screen-setter and safety valve passing option, that allows our playmakers to probe aggressively. He is the anchor of our defense, and has come up with crucial stops and rebounds in his short career thus far. This will be a strong test of his greatest opportunity for growth. Jonas is an old-school frame with new-school mobility. He won't stretch the floor, but he gets deep paint touches and secures board outside of his airspace. He's not a primary or secondary option, but neutralizing his impact will be key down the stretch.
PRINCE VS JACKSON - this matchup concerns me. I'm very pleased with how quickly and well Taurean has adapted to our squad, and to his role as a small-ball 4. Jaren has all the skill and speed of a modern PF, with the strength, length and defensive acumen of an elite C. I expect TP to play within his strengths in this H2H: corner 3's, backdoor screens, fast breaks. We may see some Twin Towers for the first time this season, as well.
HARRIS VS CROWDER - both are role-players who spread the floor for their stars. Joe is more of a sniper, while Jae's calling card is hustle. One key I'll watch is whether JH continues to help off of his man, and whether he can recover in time enough to prevent wide-open looks for Crowder. I still don't know whether Kenny is coaching him to help off of his man, but this is where his D tends to crumble. KISJ, just keep your man in check.
LEVERT VS BROOKS - of all of the things I enjoy about Caris, one maddening aspect of his game is his tendency to let his level of play rise and fall with the level of his direct competition. He gets up for big matchups, but he rarely dominates little fish. No disrespect to Dillon, CLV should embarass him. I'm also checking for LeVert's ability to fight through screens. He seems very dialed in-defensively overall, but he's giving up great looks from 3 off of picks.
IRVING VS MORANT - once again, Kyrie the veteran and established star must not only win his matchup, but dominate. Ja is a gifted floor general, so Irving will have to work at both ends to contain.
Our bench has not looked great so far, but I still firmly believe that we win the 2nd unit matchup 9 out of 10 games, this one included. Memphis strikes me as a team not fully committed to the run-and-gun future of their 2 young gems, still holding onto remnants of their grit-and-grind past. Pace will play a huge factor, and I think we will control it with our guards.
PREDICTION: NETS 120, GRIZZLIES 114

We need to win this one without having to rely on Kyrie to do the heavy lifting. Spencer, LeVert, Prince, Harris, Allen and Jordan need to all bring it today.

Love you Fro, and let's get after it!

No "hatred" on my part. At least... far as I know?

I know right?!
People are calling Allen hater #1, when I consistently give him plaudits. His limitations merely intersect with the needs of the rest of the starting 5 in an inefficient way. IMO, the more exposed he and we are to this less-than-ideal meshing, the worse off we will be. That's not taking anything away from Jarrett as an individual, everyone has to sacrifice for the good of the group. I think he can get as many minutes as he has been getting (~28), but the lion's share of those should be with the 2nd group.
What the heck, I hope Allen proves me wrong. He'll bodyslam Jonas into oblivion, suplex Jaren over his knee like Bane did Bat-Man, and punch Brandon so hard he sees the curvature of the Earth. GO NETS!

its hard to come with another conclusion when you bash him for things that dont actually exsist like the wolves game. Then you dont reply when you are called out with the play by play log or video that complely contradicts you

I can see us losing this one. on the road, Grizz are legit, i dont care what the ratings say. Jaren Jackson Jr is the best player under 22 in the league and Ja Mortant may end up being the best rookie since curry.
They are one of the most dynamic teams in the league. i fear this matchup. i dont know how we stop those 2

Jackson killed us last year, I think he dropped like 30 on us. Him and Morant is a legit nice young duo, I'm interested in them; I hope they are in the bottom 6 so they can get another nice piece and they won't have to give up their pick to the Sucktics. This will be a fun one though, I expect Kyrie to school Morant. But Kenny need to let Levert play 30 damn minutes at least.

The Grizzlies are like my young west coast team to watch right now but this isn’t that hard to win if we play as well as we did in the first half vs NY or 2nd half vs Minny.
JJJ is legit and Morant is facing one of his idols but ultimately, they are trying to mimic the Nets/Bucks style of spread floor offense and they are going to be prone to turnovers due to being young and attempting to be come a similar version of us on offense with a spread floor style. They run certain plays like ‘Portland’ with Grayson Allen that we use with Joe Harris. So, we will be able to recognize them defensively. Can their guards contain ours? Definitely not.
I think the grater concern is defense and rebounding, stopping vets like Valenciunas and Crowder from going off or the possibility that Clarke owns our bench unit. Plus, Allen hasn’t historically faired well against JV.
Outside of those concerns, we should win this one. No excuses.

Wow Grizz, Hornets and Knix are worst teams in NBA today. If we lose to these teams than we really got issues, we should take care of them on talent level alone.

I would sit Kyrie out for this game. Din and Caris should be more than enough to get quick W. I know we need to build chemistry but not against bottom teams, load management please. Sac, Knix, Mempis, PHX, Bobcats, Wiz and Cavs is were our depth needs to show up.

There's no reason to sit Kyrie, but we do need to see others step up. The last two games he's had to carry this team.
We need to build the lead, hold it, and allow for him to rest in the 4th.

would love to see a comfortable win here, but you guys know... we're the Nets. Nothing is ever easy or taken for granted.

Kyrie should have a field day against their guards. Hoping for a blowout after 2 close games.

If Kenny is serious about rotating centers based on matchups, I could see DJ starting this one to bang against JV.
Either way, this is one we should win. Young team without much firepower. Still early in the season so anything could happen but it would be nice for the team to break out today.
Would be nice to see Caris have a really good all around game today. He was really good in the first half last game. Foul trouble and general silliness got him totally out of rhythm.
Another test for Prince today. He should match up with JJJ a lot tonight. He did a great job on the Knicks big. Showed a lot of toughness that ATL claimed he didn't have. I've noticed were being more aggressive helping in the post. Last year, we were OK with leaving guys on an island and focused on not giving up open 3s cause of double teams.

That was a great interview with Kyrie on the pregame show. It makes me even more confident in him and his desire to bring a title to this franchise. He's all in.
Nets have to be careful. I lost some change last night because Phoenix beat the Clippers. You can't take anyone lightly regardless of experience and roster.
