GT: New Orleans Pelicans vs Brooklyn Nets

Post#1 » by kamaze » Mon Nov 4, 2019 1:39 pm

Sorry guys there's no pics did this off the phone.

Where: Barclay's center, Brookln NY

When: 7:00 PM the game starts at 7:30 PM

Where: YES NETWORK
If you're outside of the tri state you can catch it on NBA TV

The problem so far has been defense and turnovers. Since this will be a nationally televised game hopefully the team is focused on getting a win.
New Orleans is a young athletic team this should be a good matchup.

Injuries: Zion Wiliamson for the Pelicans, Wilson Chandler for Brooklyn

Post#4 » by Paradise » Mon Nov 4, 2019 4:44 pm

Yeah, this is a must win game. No excuses.

An upcoming 5 game road trip that includes stops at Portland, Phoenix, Utah, Denver, Chicago...is nothing to play around with just because it’s “early”.

So, I need these guys to show some playoff experience and come out with the intensity to beat a young team at home. No excuses.

I need guys like Spencer, DJ, Rodi to show me something and actually step up and lead this game in bench production. I also need Kenny to stop coaching like we’re rebuilding.

Again, it’s nearly 10 games in and we can’t get a legitimate high scoring bench game. That needs to end. All the bad habits needs to end tonight with three days off going into that Portland game.

I never thought a game against the Pelicans would be so important. But our moral would sink low if we lost this one....

There aren't any must win games in November but we REALLY need this one. Veteran teams don't have a good time when they're losing games they should win. We don't need to be amazing but we need to tread water while we figure things out.

Really disappointed in Rodi so far. Would be nice if he had a break out game. It's one thing to be in a slump or something but the guy doesnt look like an NBA player right now. He's scared to shoot 3s. He's missed a bunch of wide open layups. His defense is terrible. I really thought this guy had high level starter potential. Hopefully Kenny gets him going.

Pelicans are an athletic, fast paced team with some talent. They've been struggling but acting like this is some easy game is a mistake. If we can't slow down Ingram, Okafor (lol) or Holiday - we could be in for a long night.

I think it would be beneficial for a Rodi/Prince swap...kind of like what we had last season with DMC. Rodi really benefited playing with Russell finding him cutting to the basket. With Spencer looking for his shot 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Jordan alley fourth...it really has left little use for Rodi.

This won't be an easy game at all. Nets need to cut down the TOs and hit their FTs.

We are one of the three worst FT shooting teams in the league and we are also one of the worst turnover prone teams. If we can clean these areas up we'll be so much better.

On the plus side, we are the #1 3 point shooting team in the league, one of the best rebounding teams and we are top 6 in scoring. So it hasn't all been bad but tonight is a must win game.

Could also go the other way...

I'm not sure we will ever be a top FT shooting team with DJ/Allen/Caris/Spencer, and while I expect turnovers to go down, Caris/Spence and Kyrie are all high usage guys which normally comes with turnovers.

Think it's bad now?

What if we go on a drought spell from downtown?

Pretty much my thought before season started. I'd like to see Rodi play with Kyrie and Caris because they're playmakers and can set him up nicely. Also Joe gives us much needed spacing with second unit, I'm not believer in Temple's hot shooting sustainability like Joe's.

Blown defenses like this is our main issue. Joe had to switch and Caris should be screaming help on that play because Luke one of the best shooters around the league. Instead Joe sagged off to FT line for no reason.

Keep JJ and Jrue in check and this should be an easy win. If those two get it going than we in some dog fight.

JARRETT ALLEN VS. JAHLIL OKAFOR – The Nets are fortunate not to face their former #3 overall draft pick, Derrick Favors. Jahlil is another ex-Net, and is having a great season relative to expectations. I expect Jarrett to dominate this matchup, true future franchise cornerstone C’s should dominate this matchup.

TAUREAN PRINCE VS. BRANDON INGRAM – BI *somehow* cleared concussion protocol, and is playing tonight. TP should be able limit Brandon’s impact on the game, especially is he focuses on hustle plays. Will strength or length win the day?

JOE HARRIS VS. JJ REDICK – Am I seeing double? Undersized sniper SF edition. This will be an interesting duel. I think their offensive skill sets cancel out, so again, the intangibles will determine who wins this matchup.

CARIS LEVERT VS. LONZO BALL – Caris *shouldn’t* have to worry about Lonzo scoring on him. If he does, his D is further away from average than I thought. No, LeVert should only need to worry about Ball’s on-ball (see what I did there?) defense. He’s a muzzle, but if CLV can be tenacious, he should get rewarded at the charity stripe.

KYRIE IRVING VS. JRUE HOLIDAY – This will be worth the price of admission.

Simply put, the Pelicans’ newly reinforced bench has been tearing opponents a new @$$hole. In order to win, we need our 2nd unit to keep pace, literally and figuratively. Don’t let them rush us into an uptempo game, run our system and get stops.

Kenny, I need ALL the posters for this one. It feels so much different leaving for a long road trip with a W rather than an L.

PREDICTION: NETS 128, PELICANS 123

That's not really a blown defense...that was a gamble by Caris that backfired. I'm sure the others could have rotated better and made better effort to contest, but that starts with Caris going after the steal

Hopefully the Detroit game woke us up.

We need to win and do it by a comfortable margin. If we lose then this road trip is going to be a nightmare.

Kenny needs to turn the corner this isn't a rebuilding team anymore. Kyrie wants to take over the city the place is here and the time is now. (That's a lofty goal I personally think it'll always be more of a Knix town they claim just that all the time).

I got the feeling he left Spencer in bc he knew it meant a lot to him but I could be wrong that's just how it felt.
Kenny needs to hold EVERY player accountable when they have lapses in focus. Everyone in the rotation has been in the league at least 2 years the only player who is still learning and needs to be given some slack is Rodi. I think he'll spend some time in Long Island to get his game on track.

Yes it is. Rule number one is to stop the ball, two Luke is known shooter that has the ball and looking for his shot. Brown is rookie 3d string PG who's not known for his shooting,Joe absolutely had to cover Luke on that play. You've seen why. What is Joe doing sagging of like that anyway.

The defense broke down after Caris goes for the steal Joe is left to defend Kennard and the guy at the top of the key. Like he said Joe makes a bonehead move to the paint for some reason and Caris doesn't hustle to get back in the play. This is something I'm sure was shown in the morning film session.
