HMHA was so key to our franchise, and so dang fun to watch!

His jersey should be retired next season in Barclays. Inexcusable if the Nets do not honor this man.

I remember when he got traded here. K-Mart had left in free agency, the roster was a shell of itself from the past three years, and Richard Jefferson got injured. Then all of a sudden the Raptors traded VC to us for next to nothing.

I'll never forget the post all star run Vince and Jason Kidd had, carrying a roster full of dead weight to the playoffs

https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/NJN/2005.html

Look at this roster. We were playing Jacque Vaughn (now an assistant coach with Kenny) at two guard. Ron Mercer, Rodney Buford.... :noway: and Vince and Kidd carried it to 42 wins.

VC/ J-Kidd/RJ was my favorite Nets team of all time and VC is my favorite all time player.

Loved watching this team. If only we could have put a decent supporting cast around those 3, they would have won a title.

The string of 30/40/50 point games VC went on post trade to sneak us into the playoffs was among my favorite stretch of games as a Net fan.

I don't think it was support case that cost us a title. Post micro-fracture surgery kidd went from a great player to a very good one. and Kidd/VC 1-2 was likely not going to cut it in a league dominate by Dunan/Kobe/Lebron at that point. Although i would have loved to see how we would have fared if Abdur-Raheem passed his physical and was healthy or if Lopez came a few years early for that era

It's crazy because the finals teams could have used a player like VC when things ground into the halfcourt, and the VC/Kidd Nets team could have used Brook Lopez.

We were starting Jason Collins and Nenad Kristic and our best bench player was a 40 year old Cliff Robinson.

No way to prove it, but I think if we get Abdur-Rahim and some bench help we have a way better shot.

That team could have beaten the Heat who went on to win the title that year.

Lopez would have been great but we really just needed any competent big man.

RJ was injured during the Miami series anyway. If he was healthy we had a chance to win.

Yup, that was a gut punch, to sign the ideal missing piece of the puzzle and have that dream snatched away.
