D’Angelo Russell reportedly unfollowed Spencer Dinwiddie on Instagram last summer shortly after it was revealed that Dinwiddie had served as an influential recruiter for free-agent superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Still, the former Nets teammates dismissed any suggestions of a rift between them ahead of Wednesday’s reunion in Brooklyn.
Barring a trade before the 7:30 p.m. tipoff, the on-the-block Russell will return to Barclays Center with the Warriors for the first time since he was traded to Golden State as part of the Nets’ blockbuster signings of Durant and Irving in July.
Russell, who still follows several of his other former Nets teammates on the social-media site, called Dinwiddie “my guy” Tuesday and said his former backcourt mate “should’ve been an All-Star this year.”
Dinwiddie also seemed bemused when asked about Russell’s decision to stop following his account on Instagram, saying: “I can ask him about it if you’d like. That’s the first time I’m hearing about that. Pretty sure I still follow him, so I’m solid. He’s a phenomenal player, a great teammate and last year was very special.”
Barring a trade made within the next few hours, D'Angelo Russell is set to play. I hope the building gives him a super loud ovation and the Nets have a nice video tribute lined up for him.
Plenty of guys have come and gone through the doors over the last few years but D-Lo is a guy who always will be a Net in my eyes. He gave us some fun memories and he worked hard to become a better player and person under Marks and Kenny.
That being said, we need to win BADLY and I hope to god D'Angelo is going to give one of those 5-16 20 point performances tonight because if he comes in here looking to go Ice In My Veins mode on us this is going to be a long night.
Caris LeVert needs to keep up what he started the other night versus Phoenix.

Tonight's game will be a mixture of emotions for me. I loved witnessing D'Angelo's progression, while he was here, and I think I'll root for him his entire career. I hope that we give him a standing ovation, and I hope he share the same goodwill toward us. Then, when the ball is tipped...
This game is about pride and consistency. Starting now until the end of the season, we need to have a perfect record against bottom feeder teams like Golden State. No one is perfect, but we've already lost as many games against tomato cans as any playoff team should all season.
Take a long look at this year's Golden State warriors. They are garbage. No one on the team other than Russell has put together a solid stretch of five games. We need to step on their neck and drive them into the dirt. Lots of people on this board we're going crazy over losses to Los Angeles and Milwaukee, I don't get too bent out of shape about that. But we have a nasty trend of letting replacement level players go off on us. I swear, if one of their journeymen goes off for a season-high against us, I'm going to lose my patience with this team.
Cut off the head of the snake, don't let Green punk us defensively, and don't let him get into a rhythm offensively. Dub em.

I will forever hold a special place for D'Angello Russell. Next to Buck Williams and Petrovic he is my favorite Net of all time. What he did here in just a couple years is more than some of the greats did in 5+. He turned Brookyln from Billy King's punchline into the THE east coast destination for stars, made brooklyn basketball a fun thing to watch, and was genuinely a great person on and off the floor. It sucked when he left and still kinda wish it was him and kyrie instead of kyrie and KD (although KD obviously is better for winning by a mile).
I think Tonight Russell could cook. He seems to have a knack for playing well when the narrative is there. He roasted the lakers with us. I can see him dropping 35+ on a barrage of threes with some late clutch shots to get the win. I hope he doesnt, but if we are going to lose to someone this is one i could swallow easier.
I hope he ends up in minnesota so he can play with KAT

I like this Warriors broadcast crew. Good with details; interesting to listen to.
Just a few minutes ago the view zeroed in on Temple and his patch(es), and the Warriors guys were talking about how nasty that original play was, and how respectful they were of his game and longevity in the league. It was kind of flattering, almost.
