Feels good(still a bit weird) to have a game thread back.
This game will be a litmus test for how we'll do in the bubble. If they can keep this game close/scrape a win, then I feel they'll be competitive in the bubble. If its a huge blowout then I'm bracing myself for 0 to 1 wins(thank goodness for the Wizards)

I've been intrigued to see what the structure of the team would look like. I feel like they picked up above average players to help with Allen, Harris, and Caris. I also think Sean Mark's did a remarkable job by positioning a solid team to rep the name during a pandemic. We need this sport and I'm glad to see it back. I just need for Brooklyn to go hard! Starting with the magic.

I think Marks dropped the ball once DeAndre Jordan tested positive, we have zero inside depth.

Waitwaitwait, Paradise, are you seriously inside the bubble right now?
Anyway, I'll be donning some new Nets gear tomorrow, I'm amped to see us again. I do feel we've made some good quality emergency signings. I'd have preferred a true true big instead of Thomas or Anderson, but I know they're great character guys and know our system. I couldn't honestly say I'd rather have a scrapheap bigman instead of Johnson, Chiozza or even Crawford. I've said before, if Beasley didn't contract the virus, GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND FREE AGENTS AVAILABLE, the entire personnel shuffle would have been a masterstroke for Marks. Losing Michael and replacing him with system dudes who don't fit the need make everything else look worse. Now onto the game...
I have predicted us to lose both matchups with Orlando, yet finish the bubble slate at 4-4. So, it wouldn't shock me if we took this one. Isaac is back and healthy; if we start TLC, the 6'11 freak of nature might go off for several career highs against us. Caris has (seemingly) shaken off the rust, and we'll need him to not only beat his matchup, but dominate the entire game on both ends. That's a tall order, especially driving the lane against a very tall team. Jarrett is going to need to dig deep, battle hard and stay out of foul trouble. Nikola is going to bully him, and Mo will race him. Joe just needs to play within himself, avoid defensive plays he cannot make, and take system shots. The Magic are way deeper in pure talent, but I'm encouraged by the way Jacque has organized his ragtag troops.

Welcome, drsd.
I had not heard it read anything to suggest Rodi is injured or even hobbled, that's interesting. Perhaps they are going to rest him? As one of our only "bigs" (we have to use the term loosely) going against a team full of size, that concerns me.
As for Jamal, Vaughn seems to be slow-playing his introduction to the rotation. I do believe he'll be our 6th man and will probably take the 2nd-most shots in games that he plays. But I do think that it's smart to make sure he knows the system, and setting expectations before turning him loose.
What do you think of the line, and the ESPN predictor? I have never seen the two contradict each other so strongly before! Vegas favors you by 7 points, a healthy margin. But ESPN's model has us winning in 60% of their simulations! I'll be intrigued to see how the vast size differential plays out, and which style of play dominates.

I don’t see us winning this game. Orlando's size is going to slaughter us and we have very little playmaking on the perimeter.

I do favour the Magic to win this game. The 7-point line is tough as we still do not know if Augustin or Fultz will start. And if Isaac is back (he is DtD on the injury report). Or if Iwundu has completed tis conclusion protocol.
I do like the under at 211 tough, as I think this will be a very sloppy game.

Hey guys, good luck tonight (genuinely). Best wishes on a good competitive game with zero injuries!
Oh and history shows that Orlando for some odd reason plays poorly against teams "they should win against" so we'll def. see.

The Magic wont beat us with size. the games vucevic has scored 30+ we won all those games. the games we lose where when Fornier/Ross/Gordon have gone off on the wings. And augustin to an extent.
if they want Vucevic to go score 30 on inside play i welcome it. much better chance we win with him going 12-24 for 32 points than 3 or 4 wings destroying us.
Hoping Crawford plays. old and rusty but he is still our best offensive player and he absolutely owns the magic. Looking forward to a small lineup of:
Levert/Johnson/Crwaford/Harris/Allen.

forget health. these guys havent played in months. anything can happen. lots of turnovers is a given. who shoots well and who doesnt is completely up in the air.

If someone would have told me a year ago that the Nets were going to play a regular season game on July31ST at 2:30 I would have thought they were nuts. But here we are about to witness history.
Last nights games were great, hope it continues today.
211.....I would be pounding the over. These "early season games' are chuck festivals.

This is great news. I'd like to see Rodi start as the 4, now that Donta is available. He's still giving up size to Isaac, but at least we have a fighting chance in that matchup.

I bet the under as well, I stayed away from the spread because I have no idea how these teams will perform (I expect ORL to win). Good luck.
