I don't know how I feel about this. I trust Marks, and KD and Kyrie had to have signed off on this. But...wow.
at least Vaughn sticks around with the organization.

So much for Jacque Vaughn impressing management.
I know nothing about Nash's coaching skills. I know Lue and Kidd though and I didn't want them.

Impressive enough to retain as the interim head coach in case this doesn't work.

I mean, I'm glad dude still remains with the organization, but...I mean he has more experience than Nash does.
I have to figure Marks sees something here if he's been courting Steve for awhile as we are being told.
I don't know. the whole Kidd fiasco kind of makes me wary, but Kidd is an ass hole, we don't know Nash like that to judge right away.

I have some serious questions. Not in a negative way, I'm just curious as to how all of this went down.
At least Vaughn is getting paid, so Tsai and Marks did right by him in that regard.

Why not just keep Vaughn if that was the case?

Really strange decision. From what I understand, Nash has been working as a player development coach with the Warriors and had a good relationship with KD. I'd feel better about this if he at least had assistant coaching experience. This is a big leap for a contender.

Exactly. Nash is a complete unknown as a coach, but like Kidd the player, he knows the game (at least one side of it). Nash doesn't come off like an ass, but also doesn't come with the off court baggage that Kidd did. Lue just never impressed me. I'm...cautious. Not gonna celebrate, but almost relieved they didn't hire any of the usual suspects on the market though I had worked myself the last few weeks that I was good with Vaughn.
Also, I think Nash worked with KD on the Warriors so there's that connection.

I don't think anyone did. Tsai and Marks did not let a drop of this leak.

I was good with Vaughn too, and would have liked to see what he could have done with the full roster.
Again, KD and Kyrie had to have signed off on this, so looks like we're all in on this one.

Which is good. Keep things quiet and in house.

I am stunned but excited for next season even more.
Never saw this coming. Only thing I can say is Nash, from all reports earned respect around the warriors org not just from KD. That doesn’t translate to coaching, especially for a contender but I’m glad we atleast have someone KD and Kyrie respect. That’s only one part of the equation, a BIGGGGGG equation since we realistically have a 3/4 year window

I'm interested to see what Nash's offensive philosophy will be, and what kind of system we'll be running. What's his approach to defense as a coach? How does he view the role of the bigs? So many questions.

This is exciting, not gonna lie. I don’t know how any of this works out, but besides someone like Pop, I prefer this to all the possible retreads and even to retaining Vaughn as the lead.
Vaughn was solid in his short stint, but from reporting I remember during his stint in Orlando and elsewhere as an assistant he is a major hardass and wears on his veteran players quickly, at least and especially when they’re not winning. This team doesn’t need an egotistical, apathetic assclown like Kidd, but they also didn’t need an OCD drill sergeant. He should be a great secondary voice though.

Vaughn seems to have mellowed out though. You never saw him yelling at guys or overreacting, and he made an emphasis on listening to the players. He seemed pretty calm on the sidelines and even in interviews.
I'm eager for Steve to get started.
