Bucks won't trade him while they are pursuing a title, and Golden State can't do a sign and trade because they will be over the apron. The Warriors essentially took themselves out of the Giannis hunt when they resigned Green and Klay.

His son indirectly confirmed what we've pretty much knew. the Houston Rockets are on their hands and knees for Ben Simmons (or Kyrie/KD), and (as per Shams) Morey isn't willing.

So we've been forced to hear these "Deal is 99.9% complete with the Brooklyn Nets!!!!" posture stories for the last little while.

From what we know so far, Houston wants Ben Simmons but James Harden wants Brooklyn.

Does this come close to working for everyone?

No, Philly wants to contend, not regress. While trading Harden for Simmons is a net positive, Harden + Embiid is not enough to contend and the Sixers wouldn't have enough assets to further improve their team if they traded them to HOU.

If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Morey actually preferred to trade Embiid instead of Simmons, but Embiid wouldn't be as valuable because of his conditioning and overall health concerns.

this could be posturing but I'm hoping it's legit. I'd stay open minded and flexible, in-season who knows how things look, but right now I'd be adding pieces and not making big changes before seeing what this group looks like.

He's a fine stretch 4 and we brought in Doc to do whatever he did with him on the Clippers when he was their #1 option that year prior to Kawhi/PG where they were overachieving and he was a borderline allstar.

He's still not a bad player, and a good fit alongside Jo and Ben. Gets up every morning, scores his vanilla ~19ppg on good efficiency and goes about his day. He's wildly overpaid, but not a literal detriment to the on court cohesion on both sides of the basketball like Horford was.

I could see Morey using this as a year to pump his value and then to go all in for someone next summer.

The Sixers aren't contending for anything but HCA and possibly a round or two this year.

I wouldn't give up my 24 year old Star who I have locked up for 5 years for 2 years of Harden.

Definitely. It's not a Kawhi type of situation where Toronto was on the cusp year after year, consistently achieving really well, but coming up short due to the lack of superstar power. They had gathered and developed an amazing surrounding cast for Kawhi to come in and alleviate his responsibility. Even after trading Derozan/Poeltl they still had Lowry/Siakam/FVV/Ibaka/Powell/OG/Gasol and then Green came also. We've done some solid roster configuring since Morey has come in. Shipped out weird fits and toxic contracts like Richardson and Horford. Brought in Green (expiring) and Seth. Hopefully Tyrese Maxey can develop into something intriguing. Shake Milton, Furkan Korkmaz and Matisse Thybulle should grow a little bit more. And Ben also, who's only played two and a half seasons and is still imo scratching the surface of his offensive capabilities. I'll have faith in whatever Morey does because he's earned it, I just don't think it's the right moment yet to go all in and mortgage your future with your two cornerstones being 24&26 years of age.
