Bruce Brown (and Dinwiddie)

I don't know if this is just some kind of magic carpet ride fluke or if this is the real Bruce Brown, but if it's the latter that was another brilliant move (trade) by Sean Marks and it practically eliminates the pain of losing Lavert and/or Dinwiddie. Because of Brown our second unit has not missed a beat at the smalls.
This dude has been unconscious!
BTW I hate that Dinwiddie got hurt and wish him a full and speedy recovery, but prior to the injury it looked like there was no way we could afford to keep him beyond this year. Just curious but does this increase the likelihood we can keep him now? He's one of my favorite Nets and I hope it does.

Dinwiddie is gone unless we move Irving. You can't spend big money on him with Kyrie and Harden in front of him. Question is can we get someone that can contribute now for his insurance paid expiring contract?

Din will get paid. We got his bird rights and have nothing to work with signing any FA. Tsai is on record with fact he's willing to spend. I won't worry about that at all.

Another good move by Marks. Getting Brown for Musa and second round pick. Musa is out of the league. Talk about an upgrade....lol.
As far as resigning Spencer, I would have to go with the proverbial 50/50.

Brown is just a good player who can do everything and had the perfect combo of athleticism and mentality for this roster. A lot like Dinwiddie in that he was injured his last year in college at Miami and if he hadn't been he'd have probably been a lotto pick then. He was a big time recruit coming out of HS and played a big role at Miami from day 1. He's just a swiss army knife who can provide a little of what Iguadala provided in his latter years off the bench for GSW. Play defense, handle the ball and create well enough that defenses can't completely forget about him, and occasionally knock down a wide open jumper. If he can figure out that last part he's going to play a lot of important minutes.

I wouldn’t resign either one. I like both, a lot. Long term I think we can improve greatly by moving them for bigger 3pt capable players. I would go Spencer/Brown/TJ for Aaron Gordon on Monday.

He’s far more capable than Brown bringing more everything. .369 3pt% on 4.4 attempts. 33% is all we really need and at 4 shoots per game there’s a comfort with this shots. Here he would have better looks. There’s nothing Brown does better or as good and certainly doesn’t space the floor. Gordon could do what Brown did tonight just better.

I would wait until the offseason to extend Brown. He's an RFA, and IMO the market for his skill set in the summer won't be exorbitant, even if we make a deep run.

He's everything we don't need. I'm not going to beat up on a dead horse here. Turner for sure, top D guy with jumper and good iq. Neither one is happening though.

I don’t know the horse.
Gordon for Spencer has been in rumors since Kyrie and KD signed.
He’s everything we need on the wing. Only better is someone like RoCo.
But your opinion is your opinion. I rather a proven NBA player than Bruce having good fan fair moments.
Turner not happening for sure. I can agree with that.

Bruce Brown should be a full time starter.
He defends, rebounds, and is an energy guy. You start him with Kyrie, Harden, and Durant.

Dinwiddie is going to earn 20 million a season, we will need to trade him

Honestly, we can keep him now, AND trade Spencer this summer. His Bird rights mean that we can execute a sign and trade, and numerous teams who want him will be over the cap.
His value is at all all-time low due to injury. The interest in hearing from the Trades and Transactions board is not encouraging, I don't think we can get a single player that would move the championship needle. I would rather keep him, and see if his recovery can inspire the guys. Dinwiddie at 80% is better than anyone who his trade value can bring us.

That is technically true. There should be no rush if you believe a S&T is possible. Even if the trade partners pieces aren’t exactly what we want we can get another team or multiple involved. Long as we get the S&T is done everything is fine, tho losing him for nothing hurts us much more than we might realize.
Still the DPE, MLE and cheap contracts will bring in two players at least.
