Free Reggie Perry!
The kid is tearing it up in the G-league which is not surprising. The size and skill were apparent from day one. It took about five minutes to realize Sean Marks had stolen a TOP 20 talent in round two. Now it's starting to payoff on the court, unfortunately it's paying off for our G-league team and not off our bench.
Which begs the question, why is a stiff like PF Noah Vonleh on our bench, despite the fact that he can't get off of it, while Reggie Perry is tearing it up in the G-league instead of coming off our bench?
I know he had his ups and downs when he was here, but those were just the normal growing pains for a rookie who wasn't getting enough minutes to keep improving as a player. So I understand why it was smart to send him to the G-league, just so he could get those minutes that allowed him to start his ascendance, but now that he has his game hitting on all cylinders it's time to get him back on OUR BENCH and send Noah Vanleh packing, especially with KD dealing with a hammy and we want someone who can really contribute off the bench so we don't feel pressured to bring KD back too soon.

Re: Free Reggie Perry!
I think he was sent to the G-League to 1) develop, without the crazy expectations surrounding the team and 2) to keep his contract team friendly, as in if he played a certain amount of games, his contract becomes fully guaranteed/affects the cap hit(I think).
This way he can develop and be an exciting asset for next season, while maintaining flexibility for the roster right now.
The Nets have a dearth of young, talented young players. It's essentially Perry and Claxton. No need to rush Perry and spurn his development. He was already showing signs of hitting the rookie wall. We good.

Chucker, your signature made me LOL
, but Reggie is not hitting the rookie wall.
To the contrary, he is tearing it up in the G-league.
Reggie Perry > Noah Vanleh ... by a country mile.

Another point to add is Perry may be wasted on the bench as bigs aren't rated highly here for god knows what reason

Re: Free Reggie Perry!
^ Exactly, he gets guaranteed mins and reps in the G-league, where he can work on his game against competition.
Happy he is balling out in the G-league but that would not have happened in the NBA. Do you remember how he looked the last few games he played?

Perry needs the reps in the G league to improve imo. Right now the level of play is too high level for him to cut his teeth yet.

It’s the G-league. Really doesn’t say anything about how they’d do in the NBA.

Reggie Perry is in the G-league because he is a G-Leaguer. And lets not pretend "tearing it up" in the G-league matters. thats like glorified summer league with no size and lower skill level then top 25 college competition.
Vonleh has shown he can play in the NBA as a 7th-9th man. Perry showed he was dog turd.
Perry playing for our NBA team is a sign that marks needs to check into drug rehab

this was no surprise. he wont play vs. LA either. this is 2 weeks, then evaluate, then maybe more time out, then minutes restrictuion ramping back up to 36 MPG.
Hamstring is the worst non-serious injury you can have. it lingers and if you push it you start right back from day 1. id hope to see him for 15-20 minutes vs the mavs and spurs and then full strength from there

if perry reaches his ceiling he would be lucky to be the fly that eats vonlehs crap.

There's a limit to the number of games a 2 way can be active for. Else, he needs to be converted to a regular contract and take a roster spot.

Obviously my opinion on Perry wasn't too popular

Now it makes more sense. We might need that spot if we bring in an upgrade who gets bought out.

Re: Free Reggie Perry!
There’s something there with Perry if we can develop him he could be a factor for this team one day. I liked a little bit of what I saw in a few games he played one of them against the Knicks. But he is where he belongs right now.
