Offensively Only: Most Lethal BIG 3?

CHOOSE JUST ONE OF THE BELOW, OR OTHER (Please Specify)

Kevin Durant
James Harden
Kyrie Irving

Kevin Durant
Stephen Curry
Klay Thompson

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Magic Johnson
James Worthy

I was going to add Chamberlain, West and Baylor's 72's Championship Team, but Baylor was 38

80.9ppg/22.6apg on .64TS%
It’s really not close. Roster is incomplete but this is GOAT team.

KD/Kyrie/Harden and it isnt even remotely close.

KD = KD
Harden > Steph
Kyrie > Klay

KD = Kareem
Harden > Magic
Kyrie >>> Worthy

The thing with our big three is that all three guys are 3-level scorers who can create shots for teammates, handle the ball or play off ball. other big 3s you have roles.... klay isnt creating offense or scoring beyond threes. steph is mostly threes. worth wasnt an offense creator. magic and kareem were not hitting threes.

The big 3 create massive space for eachother because all have all-time great gravity on and off the ball. you can put 2 absolute zeros offensively next to them and still have elite spacing. There is no way to stop them. you could play them 5 on 3, doulble team 2 of them, and the other guy is just gonna create and hit mid range shots all game

Good argument, Pro, I'm convinced, but it's what I was inclined to believe to begin with. :nod:

Yep, I was aware of those stats. Not sure how many other Nets fans were, but I was and it clearly suggests this is the most lethal BIG 3 of them all ... offensively.

I just wish all three can get healthy at the same time and finally go on an extended run together.

It's gonna be awesome. :o

I don’t think most of the nba community is aware of those numbers. Kyrie is questioned despite essentially being apart of Big 2(Love was a starter) that took down a 73 win juggernaut. Harden and Durant have been top 10 all time candidates their whole(since Houston) careers. It’s a ridiculous amount of talent(not to mention all might Joe). KD going to the Dubs had the media buzz already firmly with the Dubs but these three together are that and more.

Also, yes they are offensive players. But I would argue the best defender is closer to the worst defender than the best offensive player to the worst. Last season Nets were a top 10 defense without any better perimeter defense and Allen isn’t worth a top 10 defense alone. Philosophy wise their paint defense mandate was the teams entire goal. Something we can replicate with just one 30mpg paint protector center(tho having someone designated to guard opposing stars would be helpful). Last season I believe 7 of the top 10 defenses were top 10 in fewest paint points allowed. Building a great defense is more philosophy oriented than individual skill. Utah with Gobert is obviously great but they don’t have the perimeter personnel you would think and a hedge catching/switching Rudy would not have the impact of his drop coverage.

Sometimes I wonder if we're doing Joe Harris, and this team, a disservice by referencing a BIG 3

Joe Harris is one of the most lethal shooters in the league from beyond the arc, an absolute marksman, perhaps second only to Steph Curry and I believe Harris has an even higher 3 Points FG%, and because of the BIG 3 he gets a ton of open looks and usually sinks them.

I understand you have to try and guard the BIG 3 (and good luck with that), but with Harris being so lethal from 3 it makes this team that much more IMPOSSIBLE to stop. It's like having to choose between the Electric Chair, Gas Chamber, Lethal Injection or the Firing Squad.

You can make a pretty good argument that this team has a BIG 4

Steph while incredibly great scorer is not harden. Harden is just as good as Steph as a scorer if not much better but here what makes harden much better. Playmaking and court vision. Harden is probably the greatest combo guard to ever play basketball. The guy is all time great scorer/playmaker. He might be the greatest duel threat guard EVER!

Klay and Kyrie? Kyrie is virtually better at everything except defense and shooting. Kyrie is just simply far more dynamic scorer.

KD is KD
