BREAKING: LaMarcus Aldridge retires from NBA due to heart condition

Post#3 » by Paradise » Thu Apr 15, 2021 3:03 pm

I honestly forgot he had heart surgery similar to Jeff Green in 2007 with Portland during the Roy era. It returned against the Lakers two months before we try to get this brother a ring.

We’re legit cursed, man.

Man that is scary. I hope he is ok and it is something that can be treated/managed. i know LMA is "old" by NBA standards but in real life he is a 35 year old in peak physical condition. so to have a health condition being in that demographic is always tough to deal with.

From the Nets perspective, I think there is a silver lining to LMA retiring. I think going 5-out was going to be this teams undoing, going way overboard on shooting and ignoring rim rolling pick and roll play. Now claxton/DJ will likely see a ton more time, with more pick and roll. you saw a ton of easy dunks for DJ last night and that was vs simmons/embiid defending it. Still have blake/green to space the floor

What a shock, didn't see this coming. I wish him the truly very best, its a hard decision for sure(perhaps closest to a title chance) butbthe right one.

Thank you LMA for the brief stay.

Great career and he made the right choice. I think he and Harden could have been a match made in heaven off the pick and pop but his health is is above all

I have no doubts that the Nets will offer him a championship ring if we win. It's not his fault this happened.

Sad to see it end this way, it was cool to have him here and based on his tweet he enjoyed being apart of this. I hope he will be okay.

We'll be fine basketball wise. I'm just glad he went to the Nets right away and they got him checked out. He should have left the Lakers game as soon as he started feeling unwell tbh.

Hopefully he'll be alright. Sucks that this is how it has to come to an end for him.

I'm sad for LaMarcus, and glad he made the decision for his health.

Man this sucks. LMA had some really good moments for us. He gave us a huge scoring threat.

I feel like had he not signed here we could have got Drummond.

I hope hes ok though. Seems like a good guy.

Deandre will definitely be back as a starter and Nick and Griffin will get bigger roles at the 5

I could be reading it wrong but fortunately, it sounds like this is nothing serious but it freaked him out enough to make him retire. I don't blame him at all. I've dealt with some MINOR heart stuff and you legit feel like you're about to die. You have no control over it at all. Scariest thing ever.

He's had a great career. It was fun seeing him with the team during this short time.

Pretty shattered about it. Loved watching LMAs game and thought he could have given us a lot in the playoffs.

But he needs to do what is right for his body and his family.

Health is the most important thing. I hope he recovers. He’s had a great career. Godspeed.

If Nets win the championship, he still gets a ring, right? Wouldn't mind seeing him on the bench during home games.

A health scare like that can change you in a second. He made the right decision.

Very sad news. LMA always struck me as a high character guy. Wish him and his family all the best.
