I did my best to be fair to us, the other teams and to the players involved, including KAI. Irving may not want to leave, but Philly is a competitive landing spot that I think he would accept. He can play all 82 games unvaccinated in PA should he choose, thereby retaining over $17mil, and still be close to family. The Spurs have done well with reclamation projects, and are in need of starpower. Ben gets to be THE man, in an organization that can help him mature and won't stress his shooting hesitancy.

But what is Kyrie really worth if he fails to play his last contract year and in future will only be eligible (assuming anti-vaxx stance) to play, what...? 50%... 40%... 30% of all games because of municipalities increasingly enacting vaxx measures?

And then the weight of his typical superstar salary, which was already something of a puzzle given his tendency to get injured.

I'm wondering if Durant might just come to realise that he's going to have to choose between either Beard or Kyrie, regardless of the original idea.

Trading Kyrie would be a big mistake. He made this team happen. Covid restrictions will end at some point, you have to look at the big picture and what this team would accomplish in coming years, but they will punish Kyrie with the trade if he persists with this becasue that's what the league wants to send a message. This is bigger than basketball for all parties invovled.

They would be insane to offer him an extension right now. He needs to serious help from a mental health professional. I'd advocate he take a year away to get his mental health in order regardless of his vaccination status. Yeah... if we trade Kyrie it has to be for a similar level of player. Only way it would work and keep KD and Harden happy which needs to be the priority as of now.

Nah, they would extend him in a heartbeat... at the end of the day adding top 10 talent is extremely hard to do. you can always cut salary and minimize taxes if it implodes. maybe it sets you back a couple years. but getting those types is like once in a 10 or 20 year thing.
