Trade Market

I didn't see a thread on just general trade scenarios for the Nets. Way I see it, here are the needs for the Nets in no particular order:
- Third star: Kyrie, get the damn shot
- Rebounding/Defensive/Athletic Big Man: Nets have a ton of big men but all of them are flawed in different ways. And none of them are just big and strong rebounding machines. Marks loves shooting, but there are like, half a dozen bigs who can rebound and defend and shoot in the league. At a certain point, you need to take what you can get. It's too easy for teams to bully us inside, and if we really have eyes on winning the chip, we're gonna need to be able to contend with Giannis, AD, Embiid, Adebayo, etc.
- Perimeter defender who can shoot (3-And-D): We have some okay options here with differing skill levels at shooting and defense but no really elite guys. Harris can shoot, but can't defend or rebound. Millsap is strong and can defend and rebound but his shooting is eh. Same with James Johnson.
- Bench ballhandler: This would be solved with Kyrie returning (it would push Patty Mills in to this role) but having another guy who just run the offense would be useful.

Any useful/realistic targets we can try to pry free?

I think it's time to entertain moving Kyrie. Not only for his current vaccine stance, but for the inevitable next problem he'll instigate that causes another absence. It's always something with this dude.

Other than him, we need to consider moving Nic. I love him, and he *could* round into form and we would regret it. He seems right in the verge of breaking big-time and becoming an unicorn, 6'11 Covington type. But, he's been in this verge for 2 years. I thought for certain he'd return this fall with additional muscle mass, to take on the premier C's. He actually looks skinnier than last season. Pat of that might be the mystery non-COVID illness that he and Marks keep mentioning. Either way, he's in a contract year, we already drafted his replacement.

These are two flawed but very good players, so I don't see us moving them for spare parts. We'll find out soon whether Sean will attempt to bring this team back from life support with a blockbuster trade.

IF Kyrie's vaccination stance remains the same until around trade deadline (which is far away atm), that's when you consider moving him. Right now, it's too early. I'd like to see us add an athletic wing who can defend to this team if possible. Overall I agree with the type of players you're targeting, OP, I think those are areas we could use improvement in.

Kenrich Williams is a name I would suggest. He's not that athletic but he has size (6'7"), can play defense, has high motor, and he has shown ability to hit 3s (not sure how sustainable that is though). Trade exception + two 2nd round picks might get it done.

as said wouldn’t move Kyrie until deadline. see if his passing fancy well passes. He’s just less fun Dennis Rodman. Less partying more telling you something super deep that’s not that deep.

Personally HATE how the roster is built. The personnel would never fly on any other team ever with the nWo as their stars. While I have no problems with the individual players it’s just not the recipe I would want.

We don’t have time to develop players.
We aren’t going to resign any our RFA.
We need 3&D wings more than guards.
We need more turnovers.
We need roll men and rebounders.

Durant/Harden/Kyrie/LMA/Patty is all the scoring we need. We need to use the TPE’s. There’s no reason not to fill obvious holes we had since last year.

Not sure where to put this, but Sean Marks was last Friday in Madrid watching Real - Zalgiris:

Read on Twitter

Not much to see in Zalgiris side; so it's Real again. Tavares? Poirier? Yabusele? Not very happy as a Real supporter. All 3 are capital here. Or could be just Vukcevic, a young prospect, ahead of next draft (second rounder).

Second moving Claxton and signing a big.

Boogie?

Id like to see Jevon Carter go. Joe Harris also because I can't trust him anymore.

I see no need for more 3 and D players. I mean, we are #1 in threes and #5 defensively. only gap i see is a rim running big, and i think claxton can be that

What big are you signing who is better then claxton?

Harris has been awesome. Carter is outstanding on D, he shot will come

If we had John Collins we would be unstoppable.

Unless the Kyrie situation gets resolved, small trade/trades here and there really don’t make much difference.

In addition to that, you dont move the few moveable pieces you have when your in 1st place and things are trending up. At some point, we will have a big need. either because of injury or someone regresses, or something isnt working. that time isnt now.

Additionally, around the league more becomes available closer to the deadline as teams decide if they want to make a run for the playoffs or rebuild

I dont know. Like I said Boogie. Bam? Idk

I like Claxton but like others have said we don't need a project. As long as he accepts a lesser role and doesn't eat into what were doing hes fine.

Id also be open to moving him for another ball handler.

It is interesting, thank you for sharing. I do think that Marks may attempt to lure one of your bigs back to the NBA, a la Mike James. Then again, our roster is full, so unless he has a consolidation trade in the works, I would not worry about the near term.

Bam is on a 5-year max extension he just signed with the Heat
Cousins career looks to be over with being decimated with injuries. I dont see how boogie would play over blake or aldridge.

claxton for a ball handler i like... i like it even more if its claxton for ball handler + rim roller.

I thought Bam was on a prove it deal? Ah im wrong.

Ball handler + rim roller would be ideal. Without DJ and JA we really have none other than Clax once in awhile.

I like Clax and all I just think he is our best bet at significant upgrades. By the time hes developed oir window will have closed.

Would a White + Young trade be fair for Kyrie? I think the Spurs were on Kyries wishlist when he asked for a trade from Cleveland. And he could play the games in Texas and wouldn't miss many games due to his anti vac stance.

Whiteside has been playing really good so far. Been watching him
