The hottest team in the league comes to Brooklyn after obliterating a soft schedule, with plans to substantiate their lofty power ranking. Sound familiar?

Similar to the beatdown we suffered 11 days ago to Golden State, Phoenix comes in with a ton to prove despite reeling off 15 straight wins. Also similarly, the Nets head into the game as slight (-2.5) betting favorites, and 538 gives a 60% chance to survive and advance. But why?

Sometimes, evenly matched teams prove that it's a simple game, more about the Jimmy's and Joe's than the X's and O's. Phoenix has a ton of excellent stars and roleplayers, who perform as consistently as a Swiss watch. They have also been fortunate with health over the past 2 seasons, a credit to their training staff. We run a bit hot-and-cold after our Big Two, but boy oh boy, that 1-2 punch is a killer combo. The Suns play sound team defense, but I don't *think* they have anyone tailor-made to contain either James (literally our "Jimmy") or Kevin (he's not "Joe", but he'll do  ). Phoenix were just as hot last season, when we fought back to beat them on the road. At that time, we were down both Durant and HWSNBN, and Harden ran roughshod over the Suns, willing us to the victory.

I would imagine Nash will retain the starting lineup that played well in Boston, with the possible substitution of De'Andre for Bruce, IF he's healthy. Harris is still out for his 7th straight game (I told y'all, 3 weeks minimum), and no update on Claxton means he's probably a week away at best. If Blake returns, I would imagine he'll come off the bench; Aldridge has not played better overall, but he has certainly outplayed him offensively. His partnership with Patty is top-notch as well, so keeping their minutes joined at the hip gets the best out of both. Mills will have to fight against the old bull Paul, and we'll have to live with some disadvantage there. Whichever defensive wing that gets the starting nod should face-guard Booker all night, while Kevin handles Bridges. James gets Crowder, which should preserve his energy for running the show, while LaMarcus tangles with the young dynamic C Ayton. Their bench guards are great (Landry reunion), but their frontcourt is a bit depleted. McGee has been a great addition, Johnson has burned us in the past, but Kaminsky and Saric are out currently.

They will probably cross-match Bridges to defend Harden with his ball-hawking length, and Crowder to defend Durant with his bruising lower-body strength. IF either or both are successful at defending our main guys, it could be another home blowout. Should that happen, I sincerely hope that our home crowd won't make the same mistake and start chanting "MVP" to one of their players. For Kevin, battling through a shoulder injury and hearing that from HIS fans about ex-teammate Steph, I'd still be pissed. Fortunately, his shoulder seems better, and despite his reputation as the pettiest celebrity on social media, it looks like he brushed off that blatant disrespect. Maybe he's quietly using it as fuel, waiting for the next opportunity to show Brooklyn who is, was and will be the best player in the league. Hopefully, after tonight, KD sends Phoenix home licking their wounds, to battle those same Warriors on Tuesday. And hopefully after he dispatches them, our fans will redeem themselves by chanting to KD: "YOU DA REAL MVP!"

It's the same issue as versus the Warriors there are a number of young players on the Suns who are playing well and going all out from the get go... If the Nets play like they have been, lackadaisical and with the switch off, then this game could eventually get away from them...

The Suns are playing for November games the Nets could not care less about them.

What's the deal with Joe Harris? We could use the extra shooting

The LMA/KD/Bembry/Mills/Harden line up works. Stick with it.

We're gonna need Cam, Carter and Milsap to hit their open looks tonight

I think the Nets improved from the Warriors game and are starting to gel. Switching won’t help the Nets and I would hope they learned that from the Warriors game, a game which was still close in the first half despite their struggles and let it get it away in the second. They will be fine and Nets have nothing to prove. Bembry should at least bother Booker making it harder for him to score. I love it when a hard nosed and tough defender goes against a great offensive player, it makes harder to score. The drop coverage D should continue and if it does, Suns won’t have an easy night against the Nets. I think the game goes either way.

You are missing the biggest reason we are betting favorites...

Suns are playing the second of a back-to-back on the road(3rd game in 4 nights) while we had 2 days rest and are home.

Its hard (impossible) to play a ton of drop coverage vs. Chris Paul because he is the best pick and roll PG in the league (maybe ever?). We need to play it, but we will need to switch a ton too.

Harden has owned the suns. hopefully that continues.

We are the better team, at home, with rest. they are coming off a back to back vs a physical team. there is 0 excuse to lose this game.

Ankle sprain. The Nets have predictably gone silent on it, and haven't given us a grade (1-2-3) or a timeline. It *looked* like a simple grade 1, which is normally 2 weeks plus ramp-up conditioning before a player returns to game action.

Correct, I mentioned that in my Boston opener. It's a heavy factor, but I didn't want to bang the drum on it too much. In fact, it's not a "normal" road game for them, since Phoenix has been in town since Wednesday, to prepare for last night's game at MSG. It’s still a quick turnaround, but no jetlag, so I would expect the Suns' usual energetic level of play.

-3 is pretty much automatic as home court advantage. -2.5 say PHX has a punchers chance. If we'd play in PHX they'd open as -7.5 pts favorite. No matter if it's b2b.

I think 4-6 weeks should be the reasonable expectation. would would have him potentially back for the Christmas day game

We need to win this game. They are on a road B/B and believe me the trolls will come out in force if we lose. We need this for building confidence. The match up that stands out is LMA vs Ayton. Harden will do his thing but this is a game where he should step it up a bit. Let’s get this!

Well looks like the Suns arent going to use 3 games in 4 nights as an excuse like we do.

Off to a poor start against a good team. Shocker.

Good grief…. the time off actually has hurt us. Suns were playing while we were eating leftover pie

Passive Harden is just not good against any team that is actually good. He needs to be more aggressive.

Harden's passive play is the most confusing thing ever. The guy averaged 34 a game in 2019 and now he's barely interested in shooting or attacking mismatches.

Suns are a team that have been playing together for a long time now and we are trying to work Cam and now Brown back in the rotation. We don’t have enough reps together. Harden though has Cam under his wing

Awful turnovers. Every time we play a good team the IQ goes into the toilet
