What does Claxton and the TPE get the Nets?

Someone like Nance Jr?

Someone like Mason Plumlee?

Someone like ish Smith?

Needs:

1) A PF or Center with athleticism/above the rim play
2) Ball handler who is ok with a smaller 15 mpg role
3) a 2-way role playing big, something that hedges between what claxton and LMA are now

As far as I know you can't combine the TPE with a player to match salaries. TPE has to go out by itself.

If Kyrie and Harris come back healthy, you don't trade Claxton. Claxton is our best defender when it comes to switching and that will punish teams like the Warriors, Suns or anyone else looking to run the pick and roll. The offense will be potent enough with a full team; the problem last year was the D and we solved that. The D is the reason we are 20-8. Defense is what's going to win for us, not offense.

You can't aggregate the salary with a TPE, but you can work Simultaneous trades. For example:

Claxton to Team A for a 2nd rounder
2nd rounder + TPE to Team A for Player X (making less than or equal to the TPE

Claxton satisfies 1 & 3. If you move him, you're not bring back a more expensive version of him. If you move him, you move him for a ball handler, because you don't trust Kyrie to be back full time.

The last handful of games has flipped my opinion on how handle Nic.

He's really good, that's not news. Harden has handpicked and vouched for him as a P&R partner and his defense has closed out multiple wins lately. He may be in line for a sizeable payday next summer, but I think it's worth keeping him now for the rare attributes he brings.

Yes you can't, been broken down by Robert on ND many times. It's useless to fight stubborn.

I'm dumbfounded. Is there any logic to this?

LMA has serious heart problems, can literally retire at any min due to covid.

Blake most likely be gone due to salary issues.

It's always as two trades but you still can't aggregate the amounts.

Can't take Claxton's $2M and add it to the $11.5M TPE to get a $13.5M player...

Technically not possible and it doesn't happen all the time..
