I'm still mad about this. DeAndre was a solid player.

Still waiting to hear about Joe. If he's expected to return, Bembry would be pushed way down in the rotation.

cutting Bembry was an odd choice but i think we need to see how it plays out. his 41% from 3 point is the only thing boosting his value over Brown - and it looks like a huge outlier relative to the rest of his career (28%). he and brown do a lot of the same things.

so the question is what is the better bet ROS:

1. brown getting out of his funk and playing more like the player he's been over his career?
or
2. bembry staying hot shooting from 3 way beyond what he's done over his career?

1 other thought piggybacking the last post - the real guy to cut was Jevon Carter - but they can't do that until they get another backup PG. Once they do he is likely gone.

And this cut, which was Bembry or Brown, is the spot that Kessler Edwards has earned. i'd definitely bet on his 3p% > bembry's ROS.

So then the question is who is the better compliment with Edwards? Brown or Bembry? Again to me it all depends on whether or not you think Bembry can shoot anywhere close to the number he's put up so far this year. Brown has the better skill set and upside otherwise.

Carter has another guaranteed year on his contract. He's not going to get cut. They'll try to move him in the off-season.

Carter can be used as part of a trade since he will be expiring in the summer.

Brown makes too much. Came down to JJ vs. Bembry and they picked wrong.

Bembry was a positive all season long while guys like Brown/JJ/Carter have been booty for most of the season.

We still need to cut 1 player in order not make room for Kess. Maybe they just ran out of time to make a deal since the Harden deal took so long? Seems unlikely.

Head scratcher.

Not even gonna hate if he does, he deserves to be on an NBA roster. Sean Marks made a terrible decision

Can’t believe he was waived. I mean he was the bright spot in every game he played. ????

So it's approx 99.9% of us who agree that it was the wrong cut, and then most of us also reluctantly get that it was mostly about the contracts already given out (like Brown, Carter) and the potential greater need for Johnson at the PF position, right?

But 1) was the need for Johnson really that great, with Simmons incoming?

2) Would eating the guaranteed salaries of Brown, Carter (and etc) be that damaging to the cap / hard cap / numbers?

#1 can probably be debated either way, but I'd like to see a capologist-type break down #2 with a razor if possible. Marks might be plenty-flawed by various measures, but he just isn't this stoopid, I'm thinking.

Any capologists here?

Keeping Johnson was just so idiotic in my view.

We have far too many bigs and Bembry was one of our best defensive wings.

Nash just wouldn't play him.

Losing Bembry is sad but at the same time, I trust that the FO knows what they are doing. Simmons offsets everything Bembry does and is a far better player. I don't think it was in Marks plans to just cut Bembry outright, but they had to make room and financials probably played a role, in terms of contract construction to do it. We got a solid haul for Harden and it keeps us in contention and makes us younger and better.

In the end I think the biggest issue was just that he was under utilized by Nash. As much as I hated this move, it was just pointless to keep him if Nash wasn't going to play him.

Has Bembry been cleared and claimed by any team yet?

What a mistake. Can you imagine Milwaukee being interest if we waived Johnson? No shot.

I'm moderately surprised that nobody claimed Bembry. I guess nobody wanted to do Tsai any financial favors.
