The KD/Kyrie Era has been a colossal failure
I'm going to say it.
This has not worked out at all in our favor.
Year 1: KD is rehabbing, Kyrie plays like 20 games, Kenny gets fired because DeAndre Jordan thought he was better than JARRET ALLEN, who is now a top 5 center in the sport. 1st round out in the bubble playoffs. A wasted year.
Year 2: Marks makes the worst decision of his GM career by hiring Steve Nash, who is a good cheerleader but doesn't know what else to do besides that. Kyrie begins his erratic behavior, randomly missing games, attending parties while his team was actually playing the same night. We spend a crap ton of assets and traded away an all star center for James Harden, who apparently didn't even have this as his first destination. We get a 1/3rd of a season MVP level play from an out of shape Harden, KD is out for most of it with an injury. Enter the playoffs, we win against an injured Celtics team before going on to lose to the Bucks in 7 with both Kyrie and Harden getting hurt in the process.
Year 3: Harden comes into season out of shape. Kyrie refuses to get vaccinated and CHOOSES to become a part time player. Instead of drawing a hard line in the sand and telling Kyrie to either get vaccinated or start looking for a new team to play for, the Nets coddle him thanks to KD being a garbage leader who doesn't put winning first, drawing the ire of Harden who already has one foot out the door. After a good start thanks to a cupcake schedule we end up in first (while getting blown out by good teams, a sign of things to come), but reality sets in with covid, Harris getting injured part time Kyrie, Nash continues to be the worst coach we've ever seen come through here and KD gets injured. the team freefalls, Harden becomes a cancer and fakes an injury to get traded, the main piece of the trade that comes back to us won't be ready until lord knows when, and Kyrie is still ineligible to play at home.
We are now destined to either miss the playoffs entirely, lose in the play in game, or get bounced in the first round.
Did I sum everything up?
This has been a complete disaster. Are you guys even having fun watching this? I'm not. It hasn't been fun at all since these guys came here to be honest. Its just been drama, injury after injury, garbage coaching, and failure.
Sean Marks needs to fix this mess.

If Nets don't make the playoffs or even lose in the first or second round, Marks will most likely make wholesale changes to the roster. I am all for retooling or rebuilding, it doesn't matter. KD had facial expressions of being tired of this and this also lies on his shoulders considering he allowed Kyrie to bring his political baggage onto the NBA platform and in the process, screwing the Nets over royally. If Nets lose AT ANY point be it play in or playoffs, Marks will most definitely make wholesale changes. Nothing will surprise me, even if KD gets traded, it wouldn't surprise me. KD would net a huge haul in terms of picks and prospects.

Re: The KD/Kyrie Era has been a colossal failure
It can't be described as anything but an epic disaster
-Kyrie can't be trusted anymore as a serious player
-KD's can't be relied upon to play a full season
-Nash is a horrible coach
-Harden is a quitter who can't face adversity
-Marks lost control of this team a long time ago
Nobody would imagine this team would face the same level of success as the Deron Williams Nets. But thats where were at. 1 2nd round exit may end up being the highlight.
I see no light at the end of the tunnel.
KD is getting older. Why should we have faith anything will change next year?

If we trade KD, Kyrie would opt out and would save us the headache of dealing with his baggage another year. Once he opts out, Nets have leverage of NOT offering a contract, as bizzaro as it sounds, and can then salvage the franchise and rebuild the right way.

Re: The KD/Kyrie Era has been a colossal failure
Can you imagine KD: 1) not having a god-like injury recovery, and 2) not defying Father Time the way he has?
Think about how that could have went. Seriously bro-- think about it.
Fact is we got two certifiable miracles out of the KD / Kyrie double-signing, and it wasn't nearly enough. That's how the big pivot has gone so far, with the disastrous Harden trade making it only that much worse. So yes, thank gawd Morey came along with his Hardon for Harden and bailed out Marks, otherwise... *hoh boy*.
Btw in case anyone's forgotten, before the historic double-signing, the Nets were a young, super-feel good team, one with loads of picks, cap maneuverability, and ability to deal any particular player if necessary, and move in any direction necessary. I.e., we had MASSIVE FLEXIBILITY.
Now sure that was no guarantee of a championship (what is, really?), but those Nets were super-fun to follow (Brooklyn grit, baby), and even if any particular season ended on a downer, the future was still promising. Amirite or amirite...?
KD is like a basketball god to me, but screw the double-signings, honestly. We'd have been better off without them, in the end.

Re: The KD/Kyrie Era has been a colossal failure
Like everyone has stated, i hinted it last night, I am not having fun watching this team..... we are bad... we have bad players, uninspiring for the most part, not a great set of skills between them nor that they accommodate each other...
weakness & flaws are even more dire to awful coaching for 2 straight years...
massive fail thus far.... can't control injuries nor Kyrie but this is what we get.

Re: The KD/Kyrie Era has been a colossal failure
I don't blame Harden for wanting out. KD doesn't have the balls to tell Kyrie that his part time player routine has cost this team everything, so he went somewhere where guys want to win.
You may not like how he left, but if you can't understand why he left, you are lying to yourself.
If Kyrie gets vaccinated, Harden is still here and we aren't even having this discussion. Instead, we watched KD look exasperated as we got beat by a short handed heat team on the tail end of a B2B while Kyrie is at home playing NBA2K and Ben is...hell, who knows when he will even play and what kind of mental condition he will be when he does play.
It all starts and ends with Kyrie's decision making. He ruined this season.
God I would kill to have Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert here. I would kill to have Kenny still coaching this team. Instead, we get an epic slopshow.

Re: The KD/Kyrie Era has been a colossal failure
I really don't understand how KD is getting blame in all this. I understand that Kyrie 's decision may have played a part in Harden leaving but lets not forget it effected KD and the amount he had to carry as well and he kept giving everything. Harden has already said he didn't want to be in Brooklyn and always wanted Philly so what was KD supposed to do? When has he ever not turned up for us he played nearly every minute of every game before the injury and that was a freak accident not him not being able to keep healthy. You blame him for sticking by Kyrie but its obvious that one player wanted to be here the other didn't and he has no power over Kyrie to make him take the shot. KD did get himself out there and carry us for long stretches even when he could have postponed the game he played with rookies and Patty. What has he done to make him a garbage leader other than not have the power to change other grown men's decisions? This season has been a disaster the only game that I really enjoyed was the KD/rookies game against the Raptors but if blame is being thrown around then I can't agree with you it would have been fitting to name the thread the Kyrie/Harden era has been a failure in my opinion.

I've been pretty consistent. I've been critical of what Harden did, but I don't blame him for wanting out and i have no ill will towards him for that because i understand his frustration. What are you talking about? I've never called Harden a traitor, you are confusing me with another poster.

Re: The KD/Kyrie Era has been a colossal failure
This screams leadership crisis and rest is side effect. I mean Kyrie being Kyrie is a side effect as it is, if you don't have strong leadership to control it, well you get this crap we in right now.
I'm still going to have Marks back 100%. I believe he's top 5 GM that going through growing pains right now. Taking lumps is part of the process, we won't like it, it's just how things work. With that said, you won't find 3-4 GM's that clearly better than him. Just look at San An, they have trouble finding talent since he left. God only knows what they going to be once Pop retires.
Getting Harden was no brainer here. Dude had BK and Philthy as top 2 destinations. That made us overpay obviously so top 5 talent won't make them better. Giving Caris who can't stay healthy or soft big in Allen won't make me lose sleep at all. Knowing we got top 3 D player and multiple all star in return ok with me. He ain't no Harden right now, he ain't that old either. WHO HERE THINKS GIVING HARDEN 50M PER YEAR IS A GOOD IDEA FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS? He also diva, make no mistake about it. If thinng will go south ( and they will at some point to any team ) he quick to throw tantrums and get out of shape.
We extended our chip window with Ben Simmons trade, don't make no mistake about it. Our location, owner/gm and all star player along will help us to rebuild on the fly, I have no doubt about it. Player like Spida, Ja etc won't stay with their cheap small town teams, it's going to be between us, both LA and Miami ( while Pat there ) teams.
All and all I'm disappointed how this season went/going. However to say it's a failure is over reaction in my opinion. We took lumps that'll make us better. All teams went through it. Pat in Miami went through it, Bucks went through it, Lakers went through it, GSW, damn Clippers with Logo running the show going through it right now. It's part of the process that most of the time inevitable.
It's a long post but, it had to be chewed up. Also feel free to add whatever I skipped, I did because I was getting tired and frustrated

I'm never trading KD. No matter what.
You have to find a new way to build around him.
There won't be a mandate next year. We will have KD, Simmons and Kyrie probably. Harris and Curry too.
We have two first round picks to use as trade bait.
If we could just get a decent coaching staff then it could be something special.
I just don't have trust in Marks to manage it anymore. Hes been an utter failure.

Despite all our issues I still believe that if we hired Ty Lue we are a top 3 seed in the East.
And we would be able to fit in Kyrie/Simmons seamlessly.
The one unforgivable mistake was trusting Nash to manage this team. Marks deserves to be fired for that alone.

The season right before KD/Kyrie signed, the Nets were seen as an up and coming team with a good system in place, rising HC, and just a fun team to watch.
Does anyone think either of these last two years have been more fun to watch than the ‘18-19 season? Nets only had a 42-40 record but the team just seemed more exciting.

At 32-32, they would have reel off 10 in a row to get back into the top six seed.

This season is a loss. Kyrie will miss a ton of time and we have no return date for Ben. KD is on his own.

At 32-32, they would have reel off 10 in a row to get back into the top six seed.
Six seed?? That ship sailed a long time ago. Who cares if the Nets are a 6th, 7th or 8th seed anyway?
If the Nets are really a championship team, the seeding shouldn't matter that much, since they can't get home court anyway.

This season is a loss. Kyrie will miss a ton of time and we have no return date for Ben. KD is on his own.
You said era, so I'm talking about not just this season but beyond(Kyrie's not going anywhere as long as KD is here)
