Brooklyn Nets wing Bruce Brown had a big game in his team's Play-In Tournament victory to clinch a playoff spot. Maybe he was still feeling that energy postgame when he commented on the Nets first round opponent the Boston Celtics. But teammate Kevin Durant wasn't having any of Brown's "caffeine pride".

When asked about the matchup with Boston, and the Celtics missing starting center Robert Williams, Brown said, "Them not having Robert Williams is huge. We can attack (Daniel) Theis and (Al) Horford in the paint."

Durant heard what Brown said and tried to calm his younger teammate down a bit.

"That's caffeine pride talking. Those dudes (Horford and Theis) can do the same things (as Williams)," said Durant. "We don't need to say (expletive) like that. Let's just go out there and hoop."

Good for KD. Brown doesn't need to talk about anything. Shut up and play.

A healthy amount of respect is needed against any opponent. Doesn't matter if they are a lottery team or a #2 seed. Respect who is out there.

Rooting for y'all heavy. I still have a soft spot for Ben and I've always loved KD and Kyring. Go clean this up.

He just said obvious, not like we going to need extra motivation for this series. I'm kind of happy we starting in fart town. Let them see what Saltics all about.

We re going to need to play better than we did against the Cavs. Where we had a great first quarter and three mediocre quarters.

We got to get Seth some clean looks. I like our bigs vs theirs.

The C's have been playing great in the second half of the season. But if we can get a consistent effort I like our chances.

He’s moving more, he’s shooting, he’s starting to move a little bit on the court in a one-on-zero environment. So definitely positive signs that it’s improving and moving and all those things. But like I said he hasn’t been running full speed or playing against anybody, so still a lot more markers to meet.”

After Harden fiasco and how he was commenting on stuff and Ben news in general, why even ask Nash about anything? I mean this guy lives in his own universe.

Drummond needs to show up and assert himself on both ends. We could change the narrative with Drummond playing like a star.

Agree. Not that I'm worried about "bulletin board" material for Boston... I don't really subscribe to that mattering in the playoffs. If you need trash talk from the opponent to get up for the playoffs, you had no chance to begin with. Ime/Boston want this one, they were going to bring it regardless.

That said, Brown's attitude is everything that is wrong with the Nets right now. They just waltz in thinking they can beat lesser teams like Boston and maybe even get up big early then sleep walk. Instead of coming out, Ethering the opponent for 48 minutes, and then talking the talk (Like we did to Philly).

Bruce, youhave been playing great, but STFU and bring it on Sunday. talk is cheap for a team that has played with the intensity of a 7 am before work ymca pickup game all year.

I don't like starting in Boston. I'm worried our players safety. Beginning of the series is always more rabid. TD Garden did a good job escorting fans out for violent/racist language last year and arrested the guy who threw an object at our players. but we need to increase our own security.

The hate has gotten worse since then and Boston has done NOTHING to try and clean up the violent racist nonsense in the arenas or the city. They still refuse to even admit its an issue ("every city has some racism, KG and Ortiz love boston!"). You would think when 2 premier names in the sport (KD/Kyrie) tell you there is a race problem and then your players dont only speak against the comments but confirm them you would take it seriously.

I just want our boys home safe for game 3.

This series is so spread out. 3 days off between games 1 and 2 and then another 3 games until game 3.

its 10 days before game 3 in Brooklyn. it is certainly setup to make it plausible he returns

Drummond should have his way with Theis/Horford like he did the Cavs. just gotta limit him to 20ish minutes

I have this series as Boston in 5 games unless ben makes a huge impact and plays.

Coaching is so lopsided. Coaching could realistically be a +25-30 point advantage for Boston

Is Ben realistically going to help Nash proof this situation?

The more I think about it, the more angrier I become. We should not be sitting here thinking we're going to lose, but our defense is going to absolutely concede open threes to Tatum, Brown, and Smart. BY DESIGN. :banghead:

It doesn't even HAVE to be this way. It's 8th grade level basketball stuff that fixes this and Nash refuses to adjust despite tons of tape that shows that the "system" on defense is resulting in open three point attempts.

You will have a hard time convincing me that Nash

a) watches tape thoroughly

b) dives into analytics.

None of his decision making leads me to believe this.

Joe Tsai is a fool if he sticks with Marks and Nash after this. He's paying out $174,536,922 for a 1st round exit. We should be heavily favored going into this. Instead, I don't even know if we'll even win more than one game

Not once.

From the tip the entire game plan should be to give Kyrie and KD the ball and hunt for Horford on the switches. Force Al right off the goddamn floor early and bait Udoka into going small, where we would punish them.
