Around the NBA: 2022-23 Season Thread

A year ago the big topic of discussion was ironically Ben Simmons and the 76ers. It would not be too much longer that Kyrie became a bigger lighting rod for controversy.

Fast forward to the start of this season and the stunning news about Ime Udoka which is still unfolding.

Just want to add that although there are many teams loaded with talent. There is still no one dominet team that is almost a lock to win it all. There are a lot of teams that can win it all so that should make for a fun upcoming season.

IMO, the last three finals were subpar. Hoping for a better one season.

Here is to a healthy and competitive season for every team......

I am so far behind this Udoka story. Need a summary.

He was f*cking his team's travel planner. She used to also actively arrange flights for Nia Long and their child to come out to Boston.

Whatever happened after their relationship ended has Ime in boiling hot water

He must’ve told her the earth was flat and he was going to re-sign.

Unfortunately, from what Matt Barnes and various NBA reporters have alluded, there's a mighty-strong 'f-cked' aspect about what all went down. Part of it might be that Ime was harassing multiple women, evidently.

Particularly sucks that a 1st-gen American, nice success story, and talented, promising young coach is going down in flames like this. As a general NBA fan, shizzle like this really sucks.

Also pretty weird that the interim coach appointed (Mazzulla) has some serious behavioral question marks in his past, and is only 34yo to boot. To me it would have made a lot more sense for Stevens to return for one last season, then go back to being exclusively a GM / exec. If I understand correctly, he's already got an assistant GM in place (Michael Zarren), so...

Hello Brooklyn wrote:Joe Harris being injured still is very concerning.

What if he has a reoccurring issue? That would be a huge loss I'm not sure we can recover from.

On the brightside, I don't think the other teams in the East scare me too much.

Boston is the best team, but they have this coaching fiasco. Which could make them vulnerable.

Philly is still relying on James Harden in the playoffs. LOL.

Milwaukee I've never bought into as some great team. Luckiest path to a title ever. Middleton is severely overrated as some second star
.

Bold statements here man, I'm not sure I can agree with you. 6's and Cavs work in progress just like us. If they will click, they won't be a push over.
Bucks still got best player in the game. Khris is good enough to be 2nd fiddle to win chip. Saltics in the other hand... yeah
Yes I said Cavs. I believe in Mobley.

Both Sixers and Celtics decided to play no defense in Game 1 ... I'm going to laugh so hard if Harden singlehandedly manages to compromise Philly's D...

not gonna lie to yall, those new celtics uniforms are fire. they look like dark green knock offs of the old wizards uniforms from the 00s

I wasn't impressed by Philly. I think our squad is very suited to match up with both Boston and Philly. We don't need some old ass big men wasting a roster spot to defend Embiid. Who cares what he does? It's irrelevant once the game gets away from Philly.

We can't really talk given that Nash is our coach but Rivers is really bad

Sixers have talent but I'm convinced that they won't go anywhere with him as coach

Funny how Sixers fans came over here talking sh*t about Ben after we lost to the Pelicans when they can't even beat the Spurs

Waiting for Ben to get into game shape before I go to their board shoving all this dumb stuff they said.

It was given that they will underperform because Doc just blah blah blah guy who not really a tactician. Morey will get D'Antoni at some point next off-season, Harden just not as good of a player without him for whatever reason. Than again I can be wrong, Tobby had all star season with Doc in LA, now he hardly a rotation guy. I'm not taking him over Joe, Royce, Nic etc players.

As many difficulties and potential difficulties the Nets have, I'm glad we're not the Lakers.

Unbelievable for Pelinka to fail to put shooters around LeBron, then get a fat contract extension, and be stuck having to play Westbrook to the extent that he's out there losing games for them with terrible shooting and bonehead mistakes.

I mean I guess they're stuck playing WB out of either saving face or believing that somehow Ham can eventually make it work. It's crazy though, wasting LeBron's last couple years like this.

The shot that Westbrook took at the end of the Blazers game was horrific.

That team is in seriously bad shape. I'm not sure how Pelinka is still employed.

I sided with Jeanie Buss over her brothers, mainly because they were such petty a-holes towards PJax, but I really have to question her decision-making on the whole. Magic should never have been an exec, and Pelinka seemed like a sketchy choice from the beginning, too easily in love with his own brand of BS and fast-talking. Outside of LeBron falling in to their hands, their decision-making has produced too many disasters IMO.

The only thing I'm still pretty unclear on is how much of the WB trade falls on LeGM's shoulders, who's arguably been LBJ's biggest enemy across his career.
